At the brink of life and death, Freya unexpectedly discovers that the only way to calm this rabid dog's murderous intent isn't to act meek, but to beat him into submission.

So she pins him beneath her and slaps him hard across the face.

Sure enough, he gets excited.

Then she adds some deceptively tender words:

Gradually, Freya realizes that this world isn't as simple as a novel.
