On her way to the palace, Wen Zhi came across an injured man. Unable to bear leaving him there, she took him to a nearby farmhouse for treatment.

But she accidentally mixed up an aphrodisiac and medicinal herbs, and she and the man shared a bed for an entire month.

A month later, Wen Zhi fled in a hurry, her body aching and swollen.

To her surprise, she ran into him at the palace. It turned out that he was none other than the emperor, whom the people called cruel and bloodthirsty!

Prince Qing is the emperor's elder brother. He has done Wen Zhi a kindness, so she agrees to marry him in order to repay him.

But Prince Qing, who went to ask the emperor to grant the marriage, is long overdue. When Wen Zhi makes inquiries, she learns that the emperor has thrown him in prison.

Qin Zhiheng is a tyrant whom everyone condemns and fears.

On one trip outside the palace, he was ambushed and severely wounded, then rescued by someone.

While unconscious, he felt the other person tending to him with great care.

It was a kindness and tenderness he had never known since he was old enough to remember.

When he opened his eyes, intending to repay his rescuer properly, the person had vanished without a trace.

Not long afterward, he saw that person again, just as they were about to marry his elder brother.

"I beg Your Majesty, for the sake of the life I once saved for you, spare Prince Qing."

The handsome young man knelt before him, pleading for the man who would be her future husband.

"I can spare his life, but..." Qin Zhiheng gripped his chin.

"I want you to marry me."

That night, he was pinned down, his wrist held fast.

A flush spread across Wen Zhi's cheeks. "Your Majesty, you mustn't, you mustn't..."
