[A silly, bratty little sunflower x a rational older man]
Jin Kui's husband had come down with a bad cold.
Jin Kui had been forced to sleep separately from him for several days. He cried for ages over it, worrying so much that his hair turned yellow.
After finally falling asleep, Jin Kui dreamed of when his husband had been sick as a child. His mother-in-law had plucked several of her own petals and steeped them in water for him to drink.
That must have hurt! Mother-in-law was a bad person!
Jin Kui hugged his head in distress, then suddenly thought of something and woke with a start.
Fang Shaoting was woken by the noise.
The little figure stood by the bed, eyes red. Before Fang Shaoting could even feel sorry for him, he watched as Jin Kui picked up a pair of scissors and cut his own hair, then dropped it into the insulated kettle by the bed.
Fang Shaoting: ?
Jin Kui, with his hair cut into ragged bangs: "Don't be scared, honey. I'm curing you."
Fang Shaoting was forced to drink water steeped with his wife's hair. It seemed ridiculous, but strangely enough, his fever really did seem to go down.
Fang Shaoting got out of bed to check on Jin Kui, who had been making a fuss about sleeping with him all night. When he opened the door, he saw Jin Kui huddled under the covers, doing something. As he walked closer, he heard something strange.
"Can a high fever affect your performance? Today's video will tell you all about it."
Jin Kui was eagerly waiting for the expert in the video to reveal the answer when someone suddenly pulled him out. His husband's face filled his view. He was lifted up and put down, and his phone was tossed aside.
Jin Kui called out guiltily, "Honey."
His husband murmured darkly in his ear, "Why don't you find out for yourself, baby?"
A little extra:
When Fang Shaoting was ten, he was bedridden with a high fever. The Fang family consulted every famous doctor they could find, but nothing worked.
One afternoon, Fang Shaoting stared blankly at the sunflower on the windowsill, the one he had brought back from summer camp.
It was a sunflower that had almost been eaten by an antelope.
Strangely, it never faced the sun. It always faced him.
His gaze caught his mother's attention.
Perhaps for the sake of appearances, his mother stepped forward and removed the sunflower's yellowing, drooping petals.
Growing sunflowers in the mountains was difficult, and in the end Fang Shaoting followed his mother's suggestion and moved the flower to a botanical garden in the city.
Jin Kui took human form on a rainy night. When he was starving and freezing, an orphanage took him in. He wasn't very clever and forgot where his benefactor lived. It wasn't until he started high school that he saw his benefactor's photo in a local newspaper.
Humans believe you should repay kindness with your hand in marriage.
Jin Kui thought he should do the same.
So he studied hard! In the end, with grades at the very bottom of the class, he ended up at the same school as his benefactor.
On the day military training ended in late September, Jin Kui finally found a chance to corner his benefactor.
The tall boy blocked the light overhead.
Jin Kui's eyes curved into a smile as he called out to him like a thunderclap: "Husband."
