Li Shu, the Ghost Prince, is beautiful, wealthy, and extravagantly indulgent. In the Underworld, he has always done as he pleases.
Whatever he wants, he can get with a crook of his finger. There's just one wish he has never managed to fulfill.
He wants to keep a person.
A living person, one pleasing to the eye.
Ideally, someone dressed in white, carrying a frosty sword, and as aloof and otherworldly as they come.
But the living cannot enter the Underworld. After holding back for years, the Crown Prince finally couldn't take it anymore and sneaked into the mortal realm.
Risking execution, he spent days keeping watch outside the Sword Sect's mountain home. He scrutinized the sword cultivators coming and going, but was bitterly disappointed.
Everyone said the sword cultivators from the immortal mountain were extraordinary and gorgeous without exception. To him, they were nothing special.
Just as he was about to head back, a flash of snow-white caught the corner of his eye.
Li Shu stopped in his tracks and slowly widened his eyes.
Well, would you look at that.
You're the one!

Shen Zhaoyue, the Sword Sect's first disciple, has gone missing.
He left on a mission and never returned, without a trace or a word. The entire sect was frantic, searching high and low for him.
No one knew that Shen Zhaoyue had been caught by a ghost.
The ghost was strange. It captured him, but instead of drinking his blood or eating his flesh, it fed him lavishly… whether he wanted it or not.
Shen Zhaoyue remained unmoved and asked coolly, “What do you want?”
The other grinned. “You.” Then he reached out and pinched Shen Zhaoyue's cheek.
Shen Zhaoyue: “…”
Shen Zhaoyue had planned to find a chance to kill Li Shu. Later, he thought that perhaps he could let him stay, as long as Li Shu behaved and didn't cross the line.
Li Shu could be a bit annoying, but he wasn't bad by nature. Perhaps he kept haunting Shen Zhaoyue simply because he was lonely.
Li Shu could be noisy, but sometimes he said interesting things. Every now and then, Shen Zhaoyue would turn away and let his lips curve, restrained and ever so slightly.
Li Shu said he was a lonely wandering ghost who couldn't remember where he came from. Shen Zhaoyue thought he'd look for Li Shu's origins in his spare time.
They say that when a wandering ghost finds the place where their bones are buried, they can finally be released. Once Li Shu was gone, Shen Zhaoyue could have some peace and quiet, too.
But before that day came, Li Shu suddenly disappeared.
That little ghost, who had always said how much he liked Shen Zhaoyue and smiled with crinkled eyes, threw him away without a second thought and left without even saying goodbye.
Shen Zhaoyue got the peace and quiet he'd long been missing. He thought he should be happy about it.
But for some reason, his heart felt as if a piece of it were missing.

The Underworld fell into turmoil, and Li Shu hurried back to deal with the mess. By the time everything had settled, several years had passed in the mortal realm.
The former Crown Prince had become the King of the Underworld. Burdened with heavy responsibilities, Li Shu couldn't get away. His entanglement with that young sword cultivator from his time in the mortal realm had become no more than an absurd, dazzling dream he occasionally revisited.
Li Shu heard that a new master had taken over the immortal mountain, and that a “peerless warrior” had appeared in the mortal realm, suppressing the Demon Continent with a single sword. His next target was the Underworld.
Li Shu sneered. “Let him come. What do I have to fear?”
Li Shu sat and waited for him to show up. He waited and waited, and waited some more, until at last he received… a betrothal proposal?
Ready for a fierce confrontation, Li Shu was instantly dumbstruck. His hands trembling, he opened the letter, and the world spun around him.
The immortal mountain proposed an alliance through marriage with the Underworld, asking the King of the Underworld, Li Shu, to marry the master of the immortal mountain
Shen Zhaoyue.
A quietly unhinged widower (?) sword cultivator x a flirtatious ghost who doesn't understand his lover's feelings
The aloof flower on the mountain x the red lotus of the Underworld
