[How do they get a happy ending? First take revenge, then keep him alive. That's how.]
"Xiao Pingyu, I heard that women hold a high position in Khitan families, unlike among the Han. Is that true?"

In the early Northern Song, the Sixteen Prefectures of Yanyun had all fallen into the hands of the Khitans.
At first, Lin Shiyue thought the man she had rescued in the mountains was merely a fallen noble. She believed her chance to defy fate had finally arrived, so she did her best to please him, hoping he would take her away from these imposing, bitterly cold mountains.
Later, Lin Shiyue finally learned that the man she had tried so hard to please was a jade-faced demon who killed without batting an eye.
He ordered the massacre of the Taihang stronghold. Nearly a thousand people, from top to bottom, were killed. Not one survived.
Ah, no. One did survive, though he might as well have been dead: Lin Shiyue.
From Yunzhou to Huanzhou and then to Shuozhou, the man took Lin Shiyue with him on a long journey. He did keep his promise, at least, and took her away from the Taihang Mountains she hated so much.
For sixteen nights in Shuozhou, the man forced Lin Shiyue to entertain him. She endured it, all the way until the seventeenth night... when she decided to take revenge.
He killed 987 people from the Taihang stronghold. She would repay him with 987 cuts.
987 cuts. Not one less.

[Reader's notes]
1. This blurb is provisional and may be revised extensively.
2. The male lead isn't cold-blooded because of childhood trauma or anything else. He's simply a born jade-faced demon, the kind of person who will stop at nothing to achieve his goals. Please don't read if that bothers you.
2. This is a 1v1 story, with one and only one partner, and a happy ending.
