Blurb:
(The blurb is written in first person, while the novel is in third person. The character names may change.)
I'm an orphan.
My master found me and brought me into her sect, raising me from an orphan into an elite of the immortal sects.
My master is elegant and peerless, dressed all in white like snow on a mountain.
She taught me swordsmanship and calligraphy. She even taught me how to be as carefree as a bright moon, and how to win women's hearts...
I thought she was interested in me. I never imagined she wanted me to seduce Ran Yintang, the madwoman who had drenched half the cultivation world in blood.
"Ran Yintang likes people who are carefree and bright as the moon."
My master stroked my head and said gravely,
"Go in my place and kill her."
Master, what are you talking about?! You're the one I love!
I said I didn't want to go. I didn't want to seduce anyone. I wanted to stay by her side for the rest of my life.
But my master said,
"The greater good of the world comes first. Don't dwell on such things. You must endure humiliation for the greater cause."
Then she sent me without hesitation to the female demon's stronghold.
Maybe I really was the demon's type, because on my very first day there, she ordered me to her bed to serve her.
I hadn't forgotten my master's instructions, so I went.
On the first day, I couldn't get out of the demon's bed.
On the second day, I still couldn't get out of the demon's bed.
On the third day, I still couldn't get out of the demon's bed.
On the fourth day... Well, you can probably guess.
People outside said the palace mistress had kept her door shut for half a month, neglecting her duties and losing herself in pleasure, singing and feasting day and night.
Whenever anyone passed our door, they'd run off blushing.
I was deeply ashamed.
I knew I had to act quickly, but the female demon was hard to deal with.
She liked to go mad and slaughter people in her daily life.
She had plenty of demands in bed, too, and I couldn't find a chance to strike.
Day after day went by. Then one day, the female demon said it was time for us to get married.
I never thought a spy like me would get this far.
"Calm down. It'll be fine," I told myself.
I didn't want to get married, but I knew the wedding day would be the perfect time to assassinate her, so I agreed.
As the date drew closer, I grew more and more anxious.
The female demon was ruthless. I didn't know if I could succeed.
Later, my master heard about the wedding and came to the stronghold herself, knocking on my door.
I'd just finished serving the female demon and stood there in nothing but a disheveled robe.
My master's face was terrifyingly cold.
She grabbed me and said she was taking me back to the sect.
I respected my master, so I didn't ask what would happen to the mission. I nodded and went with her.
Once I was back, I no longer had to kill the female demon, and I breathed a sigh of relief.
The world outside was in chaos because of her.
But my master told me to focus on my cultivation and never mentioned the female demon again.
She cared about me more than before, and I respected her more than ever.
One day, my master fell ill. She was on the verge of death and said she felt unwell, asking me to get into bed and help loosen her meridians.
Before I could answer, the female demon struck my sect with a single palm, knocking it flat, then grabbed me by the back of the neck.
The madwoman's smile sent a chill down my spine.
"I've been looking everywhere for you. Come on, we're going back to get married."
I was afraid.
I instinctively wanted to go with her, but my master, who had been lying on the bed at death's door, suddenly sprang up and grabbed my hand. Her eyes were red as she stared at me.
"How dare you leave?"
The female demon laughed.
"Why wouldn't she? We're partners in the Way, and our love is higher than the heavens."
But my master looked at me again. "You won't listen to me anymore?"
I looked from my master to the female demon, and suddenly realized...
Neither of them looked quite right.
