Song Xun was an ordinary agricultural student. During the summer break of her junior year, she was farming at home when the apocalypse suddenly broke out.
Zombies and mutated plants and animals crawled everywhere. Song Xun trembled in fear, until her 70-year-old grandma charged out with a hoe and dealt a zombie a blow to the head.
Song Xun: ?
When the apocalypse came, humans had a fifty percent chance of awakening an ability, and the ability was related to whatever they had been around most in their daily lives.
Grandma's ability was to conjure a hoe at any time. Song Xun's ability was... a field.
Song Xun: Is that supposed to be polite? :)
As everyone knows, fields are for growing food. While other people scavenged for food, Song Xun scavenged for seeds.
When everyone else was being chased by monsters and driven from place to place, they were all gaunt and sallow. Only Song Xun and Grandma were plump and rosy-cheeked.
Song Xun: Sorry, I've been eating a little too many carbs lately and put on some weight.
Some people brought out their treasured supplies, hoping to trade for a vitamin-packed tomato.
Song Xun brought out basket after basket of tomatoes. Eat! Hurry up and eat! Take whatever you can't finish! Grandma makes tomatoes for all three meals every day, and now just seeing one makes me want to throw up.
Surviving the apocalypse was hard, and food was the most pressing problem. There was a legend passed around many bases: just as they were about to starve to death, they had seen a god who saved their lives by giving them a handful of beans.
Song Xun, the Bean God, flung beans at everyone she met.
Eat! All of you, eat! She never wanted to see another bean for the rest of her life!
A golden hoe or a silver hoe can't compare to the iron hoe in Grandma's hands. With that hoe in hand, the whole world is hers.
P.S. 1. A road-trip story, with a lighthearted, comedic tone.
2. Not much romance. The male lead is a healer.
3. Grandma can do anything. She's absolutely the leading lady!
