The Top Scholar's Husband Is a Bandit Chief

Starting in November

Wen Yu is a scholar traveling to the capital to take the imperial examination, but bandits waylay him and drag him off to become their chieftain's wife.

Wen Yu would rather die than submit, but he's still forced to take part in the wedding.

On their wedding night, the groom opens his eyes and says, "666, a beauty straight out of an ancient drama."

Wen Yu: "?"

The groom acts like a lunatic. When he finds out Wen Yu is a scholar headed for the imperial examination, he insists on taking the bandit gang along to escort him.

He says, "It's our duty to see an exam candidate safely there."

On the road, he keeps humming an unfamiliar tune: "Whenever I've been sad, whenever I've been drenched by a storm..."

He even teaches the bandits every day: "Prosperity, democracy, civility, harmony, freedom, equality, justice, rule of law..."

The bandits and their chieftain's wife weather wind and rain on their way to the capital. The chieftain's wife wins the top scholar title, and the bandits are so happy they hand out wedding candies everywhere.

"Please support our chieftain's wife!"

But success brings trouble. Before long, Wen Yu is reported for having a questionable background. He comes from a bandit gang, and his husband has even been in jail, so he'll fail the background check.

The court sends someone to investigate, but the moment they see his husband's face, they kneel. "Your Highness the Crown Prince, you're still alive!"

Wen Yu: "...You're the Crown Prince?"

Husband: "I had no idea either. Did I somehow end up in the plot where the Crown Prince is living among the common people? Oh my god, wife, does that mean you're the Crown Princess?"

I wanted to become the top scholar, but ended up as the Crown Princess?
