The dead can't come back to life, but what if you became a ghost?
Kazama Hasuki, an unlucky college student, was coerced by the Organization, took a leave of absence due to a terminal illness, and then got stabbed to death while out for a walk.
The second he breathed his last, he received a System and became the least scientific ghost in the Detective Conan world.
If he wanted to come back to life, he had to get involved in the story. He also had to find a way to meet key characters and earn Impression Points to extend his ghostly existence.
Kazama Hasuki looked at his own hands. “...Does this mean I can't touch anything now?”
System: “No.”
Did that mean he was no different from a living person? Kazama Hasuki breathed a sigh of relief.
System: “You can touch inanimate objects.”
Kazama Hasuki watched a cat seamlessly pass through his ankle. “...”
That wasn't much better!
-
To accomplish his grand goal of coming back to life as a human, he worked hard to take part in the story, while boosting key characters' Impression Points. In his free time, he made playful, half-serious jokes to tease (not really) his colleagues at the Organization and the System.
They wouldn't believe him anyway.
Every now and then, he would trick fate and quietly tweak the world's script.
“Host, you shouldn't do this... The rules might notice.”
“Don't worry, System. See? Nothing happened.”
Besides, I can't just stand by after figuring out what fate has in store for them.
Kazama Hasuki faced it all with optimism, completely unaware that the Organization colleagues were looking at him more and more strangely.
-
After the rules caught him, Kazama Hasuki was lucky enough to wake up again as a ghost.
He had thought that after disappearing for three years, the Organization would have branded him a traitor and put out a warrant for him. To complete his mission, he disguised himself as a low-ranking member and rejoined the Organization. But when he tried to ask around about what had been going on, he heard all kinds of gossip about “Petrus.”
“Hey, did you hear? Petrus still hasn't been removed from the Organization because he's been imprisoned by a member with a codename!”
Kazama Hasuki, whose codename was “Petrus”: ?
Wait, what happened during the three years I was gone?
Content warnings: 1. The characters may be out of character. Don't scrutinize the logic too closely. There are lots of personal interpretations, including some changes to the timeline.
2. The protagonist has a System, but doesn't know the plot or the identities of the key characters. The System only gives him a heads-up when he encounters a key character or a plot point begins.
3. The protagonist is an intuitive, unlucky guy (not really). There are multiple romance routes with different endings.
Please add my upcoming novel to your reading list: Let's Become an Annoying Character in the Detective Conan World
After being diagnosed with a terminal illness, Mihashi Nami was bound to a forum System called “Annoying Villain.” The System told him his illness would be cured if he completed its missions.
Mihashi Nami looked at the System's name and refused to believe it. He tested it: “Did you get the name wrong? Isn't it supposed to be the Popular Villain System?”
The System declared righteously, “Of course not! Our goal is to annoy everyone to death!”
Mihashi Nami: ?

And so, Beika Town gained an arrogant, outrageous detective.
“Huh? Isn't it obvious at a glance how stupid this murder method is?” The handsome, green-eyed boy leaned against the wall with his arms crossed, looking down on everyone equally.
People around him: What does this brat mean?!
Comments: [Hahahahaha, this is so funny. Kogoro Mouri's face has gone dark.]
Comments: [Conan's half-lidded eyes are out, hey!]
The Organization gained a lazy member with a codename.
“Tell me when the mission's done...” The white-haired young man yawned, about to go to sleep. Then he remembered something and added slowly, “...Thanks?”
Partner: Fists clenched.
Comments: [I'm dying. How can a legit member of the Organization be so lazy?]
Comments: [At this rate, Gin's really the only one working at the Organization!]
The Tokyo Metropolitan Police Department gained a rebellious new member of the bomb disposal squad.
The rebellious red-haired youth punched the bomb suspect in the face. “This is the best way to stop a bomb from going off!”
The other police officers watched as the reporters around them snapped pictures like crazy. “Big guy, tone it down!”
Comments: [It really is the most effective way to defuse a bomb, hahaha.]
Comments: [Hey, hey, did you see that? He's secretly flipping off the reporter for saying something ridiculous!]

While Mihashi Nami's secret identities annoyed people every day, he himself behaved impeccably as the manager of a cafe.
Unfortunately, he was so lucky that he kept running into cases.
So he shouted for help in his mind: [Which one of you is nearby? Come save my cafe!]
To the shock of the main cast, the secret identities pushed open the cafe door.
The detective figured out the culprit in just a few minutes. The rookie police officer planted a foot on the back of the culprit trying to flee, while a certain lazy member with a codename was... was having his hand reaching for a gun forcibly held down by Mihashi Nami.
Mihashi Nami looked at his secret identities' “please praise us” expressions, then at everyone else's looks of confusion, shock, or suspicion.
Mihashi Nami: ...I'm exhausted.jpg
