But even though he was special, and had no playmates apart from Robin the dog and Deadwater, Ulysses didn't feel the slightest bit dissatisfied.

In fact, he was proud to have parents like his, and proud of his life.

Because Ulysses knew that his parents loved him deeply, and that love was real.

For their sake, Ulysses, who had watched helplessly as his parents died, decided to do something.

So he returned to the past.

He became the Robin, Deadwater, orphan of Themyscira, Crime Alley boy, young AI, and so on, known to the past's Nightmare Knights, racking his brains to save his parents.

But just as things began to improve, Ulysses discovered a problem.

If he wanted to leave, he had to die in front of his parents.

This plunged the parents whose situation had been improving back into despair, and his plan to save them seemed on the verge of falling apart.

To avoid that, Ulysses could only go to sleep every night in front of each of his parents, dying and waking in another world, and tell them he was still alive, but spent six days a week with his other parents.

His parents were very suspicious of his explanation, but seeing him right there beside them put their doubts to rest.

Just as everything was once again moving in a better direction, and Ulysses had finally managed to get a good night's sleep, an unexpected development arose.

The other parents had actually crossed the dimensional wall and started fighting over who got to keep him...
