Your plain-looking nemesis turns into a handsome boyfriend. Life is a play, and it all depends on your acting skills.
Also known as We Who Reject Meritocracy and The Five Little Stars of the Radiant Theater Club: A Slice-of-Life Journal
*"You are both a failure and a final masterpiece."
*"Amid countless choices, we make our way toward ourselves, and amid countless choices, we make our way toward each other."
Cool-headed, rational, and absolutely unbothered drama-queen beauty x A trickster who is occasionally human but constantly unwell, a shameless poser
An adversarial couple: Xie Jinghong x Jiang Yu, always at each other's throats
The Radiant Theater Club has a tradition: after recruitment, new members hold a script-reading session. Following an older student's advice, Xie Jinghong dove right into Thunderstorm.
As Fanyi, she had many scenes opposite the boy playing Zhou Ping.
Jiang Yu was tall, with a magnetic voice and a handsome face. He was meticulous and patient when they practiced their lines, and could easily carry a one-man show.
Every time Xie Jinghong called him "Ping," she found it a delight to behold.
After their first rehearsal, Jiang Yu politely handed her his phone and asked her to scan the code to exchange contact information.
A green box spun on the screen, and a WeChat name that seemed vaguely familiar appeared. Xie Jinghong narrowed her eyes and saw a line of small text beneath it: "Added to your block list. You will no longer receive messages from this person."
Xie Jinghong was a little bewildered. The face of the boy who had made her turn red with anger at a high school debate exchange in tenth grade immediately came to mind: a dark-complexioned face, with a defiant, sharp-witted, and scheming gaze.
But that seemed to have nothing to do with the handsome guy standing in front of her.
When she looked up again, Jiang Yu was wearing a sly smile. His eyes had turned more brazen and roguish, like a fox that had gotten its way.
Unpleasant memories flooded Xie Jinghong's mind.
Could this handsome guy, with his sharp features, bright eyes, and gorgeous looks, really be the plain-looking, buzz-cut Blackie from high school, whom she'd blocked in a fit of anger one night?
Could this polished young man who could play a prince be the same guy who'd argued with her on WeChat until midnight in high school, calling her a dreamer?
The two faces kept overlapping before her eyes. Since cosmetic surgery couldn't explain it, Xie Jinghong's first thought was that he'd gotten skin-whitening injections. She'd ask him where he'd had them done later.
Xie Jinghong murmured, "Mm," and put her phone away. "I don't make a habit of clearing my block list."
Jiang Yu's smile grew wider.
Some things would sound far-fetched if they happened to other people, but seemed perfectly normal for Xie Jinghong.
[Things the other members of the Radiant Theater Club often saw at the theater:]
He tutted. "Their product manager must have an easy job. They can just use your profile as their customer demographic. All a product needs is a label like 'collaboration,' and you'll contribute your allowance without hesitation."
She rolled her eyes. "The gym at the school gate ought to put up a banner thanking you. There are so few people in the world eager to give their money away. If I could get you to pay for sixteen sessions after giving you just three, I'd apply to be a personal trainer too."
He winced. "The utopian fantasy of a deluded idealist might be more realistic than you are."
She shot back, "A pure opportunist's words are probably more pleasant to hear than yours."
He frowned. "Xie Jinghong, is the sociology department at Shen University trying to turn all its students into theoretical spectacles or quantitative machines?"
She shrugged. "Jiang Yu, I'm genuinely afraid that Shen University's law school is training you to be a legal thug."
[Things the other members of the Radiant Theater Club never saw:]
The audience had left the theater. Half the scenery had been dismantled, and props lay scattered everywhere. Beneath the dim stage lights, she stood onstage with her hands behind her back, looking down at him.
"I don't want to get to know you through any standards, frameworks, or judgments, and I'm not interested in what other people say about you. I only want to know who you are, and what kind of person you think you are."
He smiled with careless amusement, tilted his head, and said, "Dear Miss Xie, are you worried about me?"
Jiang Yu was the biggest failure in Xie Jinghong's life, and its final masterpiece.
Across countless worlds and the glimmering river, one encounter with Jinghong.
A thousand butterflies' bones sleep on my wall. A great company of young breezes crosses the river.
Life has but one purpose: to find yourself, be true to yourself, and become yourself.

Reading Notes:
1. A university campus novel with an ensemble cast. Three classmates besides the main couple also have plenty of scenes. The main cast have distinct personalities and study different subjects. The story takes place in Shenpu, an international metropolis in the south, and the characters attend Shenpu University, a top university just below Tsinghua and Peking University.
2. The characters grow, and all are adults. The story has a clear main plot and outline. The hero has not had cosmetic procedures; that was a joke. Both leads are each other's first.
3. After two and a half years away, the author is still terrible at writing blurbs. This is a story about friendship, young love, and ideas. It's lighthearted and funny, so I hope I haven't scared anyone off. Come enjoy the story of this adversarial couple~
4. The novel contains general introductions to various plays, referencing platforms such as Douban.
5. The author is a university student with a busy course load and will do their best to update regularly. Constructive criticism is welcome, but malicious attacks are not~
Theme: May the water of life flow through me in a thousand different forms
Finished with flowers 🐰 Congratulations to Mr. Xiao for successfully winning another book! I once participated in a drama club, but drama gradually faded out of my life due to academic reasons. Thanks to "Glass Water", I regained my love for dialogue dramas. It also allowed me to be hit by "Hello, Madman", "Red and Black" and "Thunderstorm" that I have starred in in my busy academic life. The friendship between Wen Shiyuan and Tutu in Jinghongjiang is also touching and enviable. Seeing these vivid people living vividly, I can't help but start to imagine "if I had a group of friends like this" and "if I could be so sincere in my feelings and be sincere in return", I can only say long live friendship. As the name suggests, Jinghong, Bking's Jiang Yu, tenacious Wenwen, serious and gentle Shiyuan, and Tutu, who loves to laugh and laugh but is actually sensitive, use their sincerity to lead us to observe their lives and enter a small world that we have never been exposed to. Thank you for allowing me the privilege of being part of a friendship I never had. I hope that I can really find a group of like-minded and consistent partners in college, and I will take it as meeting you as a harbinger of happiness in my future college life. At the same time, as a science student, "Glass Water" gave me a lot to think about. About friendship, about family, about society, about meritocracy, about everything unknown... I just did a Chinese reading not long ago. The original intention of meritocracy is to make everyone in society equal, no longer divided into classes, and "the people at the bottom" will no longer be oppressed by the powerful and bureaucrats. The evolution to the present is contrary to the original intention. In the student days, excellent grades were the criterion for assessing value. It cannot be denied that the benefits brought by meritocracy are enjoyable. The third time I am grateful to "Glass Water", it made me realize things that I didn't realize and may never realize. It made me more keen to see the world in the future and make even small changes in myself. Then I also make a wish here. I hope that I can hand in a satisfactory answer sheet for next year's college entrance examination. I hope that I can see with my own eyes that the vast world does not only exist in books. I hope that I will always be me. After talking a lot, it seems that there is no important point. Finally, I wish the five people, I wish you Liuguang, I wish you and me, always shine, always be dazzling, and always be young. Let me end by quoting a sentence from the book: "We are so young, and life is full of wind and snow before we can even take the first step. We walk with arrogance, with confusion and doubt, and with arrogance and rudeness. We pass by worldly utilitarianism, pass by love and dislike, and pass by a sudden awakening - when we look back, tears are already filling our eyes."
I can't get into the review. I feel like there will be a side story. The last article is a bit long, so let's wait until the exam is over. Anyway, we encountered Jinghong 99. I hope the end of the semester goes well. I'm really a little bit dead after taking the test for several doors.
This chapter is so cool 🐰 I look forward to the next one being even more fun
High school has elegant art on campus, and everyone treats it as a self-study class with a lot of drama, hahahaha, it makes homework fun This Liu Runlong doesn't look too good either. . . Something went wrong again [Lie flat]
This kind of teacher is the meanest. When will he disappear from the world?
Congratulations on the completion of "Secret Love in Peach Blossom Land" ~ Looking forward to the next original script!
Everyone has become good friends with stories 😳
"Car" is a big thorn in the side of the author~ cow
Wow [three-flowered cat head][three-flowered cat head][three-flowered cat head][orange candy] I got [purple candy] kswl
Reminder I am a book-loving person who enjoys reading your writings as if he were walking on a mountain trail and suddenly encountering a wonderland. The first chapter is like a rushing torrent, suddenly breaking off a thousand-foot cliff - my heart is hanging in the air, burning with anxiety, like a hungry and thirsty guest who suddenly smells the aroma of wine and his cup is empty! As a result, I was tossing and turning and had trouble sleeping every night. The screen light is scorching, and the withered intestines are hungry for kisses; the fingers and claws are tapping frequently, and the sound is even louder. Sometimes, while sleeping on the bed, one can see the twists and turns of the story in one's dreams; or when one reads another scroll forcefully, the words become the phantom of a continuation of the gentleman's writing. I explore the window and gaze at the stars every day, fearing that I will miss the update date; I always sigh while caressing my scroll, like a monk sitting withered. Prince Youxue visited Dai at night and took advantage of the excitement; now we go according to the rules and return home safely? Is there an unopened volume on the side of Mr. Fu Wei's case? Please move the jade tube, continue the ink marks, and quickly quench this hanging thirst. Literary thought is like the running water of a spring stream, don't let it stagnate; we are like waiting for the rain, fearing that it will dry up - I hope to take a bath in the spring breeze again, wash away the dry intestines and kiss the ears!
