Cool-headed, rational commander x beautiful, selfish little liar
Chi Lan, the youngest and most outstanding commander in the Ux Alliance, had recently taken an interest in a handsome young man.
He had a head of smooth, jet-black hair and a beautiful, fair face. Beneath his long lashes, his eyes were bright, like glass that could shatter at any moment, yet held a hint of vulnerability.
Especially when he deliberately approached her at a banquet.
She heard he was the duke’s privately adopted son.
That was perfect.
Chi Lan stroked the young man’s reddened, swollen lips in her arms and watched as he buried his head against her chest with those pitiful eyes.
He would make a very suitable lover.
*
The young man came from the lowest, most wretched planet. His face was the best tool he had for winning Chi Lan’s favor.
He would ask the commander to kiss him in a soft voice, his cheeks flushed, like a young pet, and have her hold his thin body to prove his loyalty.
But whenever Chi Lan left, he would lower his long, dark lashes and reveal a sly smile.
The young commander knew all about it, of course. But her pet’s little acts of rebellion were precisely what she liked best about him.
*
As usual, she kissed him, then let him go. Until one day, she sent word that he was free to leave.
The young man, suddenly out of control, was like a fragile bird with a broken wing. Stumbling, he barged into the commander’s office for the first time without a word of apology, his pale, slender fingers trembling as they clutched at her clothes.
Mist clouded those usually beautiful, sly eyes. Chi Lan couldn’t make out the pitiful expression in them, but she heard the young man speak in a different, trembling voice:
“Please, Commander,”
“Don’t leave me behind.”
