Eton Academy gathers the nation's most outstanding students, and enforces the strictest hierarchy.
Students are divided into ranks. Here, every student has one ultimate goal: to graduate from Class A.
Graduating from Class A means direct entry into the Ability Administration Bureau, the cradle of high-ranking officials at the country's centers of power. The most elite resources in every industry will be open to you.
Students have their own unique ways of competing. Until graduation, anything can happen, and no teacher can predict the outcome.
That is, until the new students of cohort 9703 arrived, bringing Fu Zhiyu, the ruler of Class A. For once, all the teachers agreed: he would be the finest Class A graduate in the history of Eton Academy.
Rational and powerful, cold and distant.
Perfect was the word that described him best.
Fu Zhiyu felt nothing about it. Even the school's ridiculous system and the students' childish ways of competing bored him.
That was until an oddball appeared before him.
Luo Ming, a poor student from Class D.
He ranked just below Fu Zhiyu on the individual points leaderboard. He could have transferred straight to Class A, yet insisted on staying in Class D.
Everyone knew he was a freak. But even a Class D student should act like one. Instead, he was arrogant and uninhibited, looked down on everyone, and challenged the rules, yet no one dared provoke him.
The first time, Class A took the initiative and extended an olive branch, urging him to transfer.
The second time, Fu Zhiyu came to see him in person and invited him to join.
The third time, Fu Zhiyu decided to make him drop out.
Fu Zhiyu held almost kinglike authority in Class A. From the first moment he saw Luo Ming, he knew the boy would become an unpredictable variable in his life.
When Luo Ming refused to transfer, Fu Zhiyu was actually relieved, because at last he had a reason to make him drop out.
-
Luo Ming turned down Fu Zhiyu's invitation for the third time. Seeing the increasingly dangerous look in Fu Zhiyu's eyes, he smiled.
Only after Fu Zhiyu had walked away did the lackey beside him nervously tug at Luo Ming's sleeve.
"Boss, what do we do? Looks like he's got his eye on you."
And no one Fu Zhiyu set his sights on ever came to a good end.
Luo Ming kept his eyes on Fu Zhiyu's retreating figure and suddenly asked, for no apparent reason:
"How many steps would it take for me to top him?"
The lackey: "..."
Not many steps, but a whole lot of lives.
Rivals-to-lovers couple: one is set on making the other drop out, and the other is set on topping him.
1. Includes supernatural abilities.
2. Mostly set at school.
3. Luo Ming is the bottom.
Theme: Everyone is equal.
