Waiting for Spring

A short bad-ending story, written for practice.

I wanted to write this after seeing the news. I'll revise it repeatedly. If you don't like it, don't read it.

Just something I wrote on a whim.

1

Lichun was born in spring, the season when all things come back to life.

But her whole life felt like she was trapped in winter.

The spring she turned sixteen, she fell gravely ill and went blind.

That winter, she met Xu Qingshi.

From then on, winter faded away, and all things came back to life.

2

In the spring of her seventeenth year, Lichun regained her sight.

But she had never imagined that once her eyes were healed,

the first thing she would see would be Xu Qingshi's farewell letter.

She also heard the news of his death.

The police brought her his final words.

The last thing Xu Qingshi said before he died was,

"Lichun, live on in my place."

"Go see more springs for me."
