The Days of the Kitagawa Team Raising a Dragon at Inarizaki

A certain deity of Inarizaki noticed that something seemed a little off about the new first-year to join the volleyball club... Specifically: On his volleyball club application, he wrote that he played because he was very good at hunting? And during attacks, instead of hitting open space, he aimed straight at people. Especially during matches against other schools, his originally golden eyes would narrow like a cat's. He still wore a sunny, cheerful smile, but his gaze somehow made people feel as if he were tearing into his prey. Up to that point, you could still chalk it up to him being a cringey teenager. But then one night during training camp, he witnessed something unbelievable. Bathed in moonlight, the new student performed a strange series of exercises, then, with a "thump," a big, plump, fleshy tail dropped out from behind him. !!! Wait, that was way beyond the realm of human possibility! But after spending so much time together, Kita didn't look at him like he was a monster. He only seemed confused and shocked. And then he watched the other boy shake a bottle and squeeze some conditioning cream onto his own tail (?), before sloppily rubbing it in with some very rough motions. The boy stood up, satisfied. He hadn't even treated the rough patch underneath the base of his tail... Maybe it was because he was used to looking after his cheerful, passionate junior every day. Maybe he had been bewitched. He walked over of his own accord. And for Hane, Kita-senpai was touching his tail! He was courting him! Oh my gosh (covers mouth in shock), Ryuta is so charming, he's actually done something so scandalous! But we're both male. How can a male be with another male? Even though Kita-senpai was so kind to him, often teaching him about humans, and even though Ryuta felt a long-missed sense of peace when they chatted, and even though the food he cooked was delicious, and the tail care he gave him was so perfect it practically shone, he also... Totally could! Th-this was simply the perfect partner! The dragon was shocked, the dragon was doubtful, the dragon froze, the dragon suddenly understood! After realizing his feelings, the dragon began to panic. He wasn't ready yet. He hadn't prepared a nest, and he hadn't collected his partner's favorite things. All right! The most important task now was to fulfill Kita-senpai's wish: Win the national championship, then use that shiny gold medal to build the perfect nest! [This is a Dragon Maid crossover. You can enjoy this even if you haven't watched it.] [For certain reasons, the dragon will suffer a major power reduction, retaining only his instincts and some habits (?). His nonhuman abilities are sealed and won't return until the bonus chapters, so don't worry, the balance of the matches won't be affected.] Also, check out my upcoming story, "Bikini Bottom High School Plays Volleyball Too!" The blurb is below. If you like it, please add it to your favorites. Please, I'm begging you! "What is this giant building shaped like a pineapple?" "It's a gymnasium, specially built for volleyball!" "Then what's that rectangular building with a Krusty Krab sign out front?" "It's the cafeteria. They have amazing burgers!" "And what about that building that looks like a rock thrown on the ground, with a weird stick stuck in it?" "You're so silly, haha! That's the dormitory!" It's all pretty obvious, right? The person asking swallowed and posed one last question: "So how did all of them suddenly appear overnight?" Was it really that obvious? Karasuno High School, located in the countryside of Miyagi Prefecture, has recently been rocked by a major event. Several simple yet adorable buildings appeared out of nowhere, and teachers began introducing their new classmates in every classroom. "Bikini Bottom High School has come from America to Karasuno for a volleyball exchange program. We hope you'll all get along during their stay." "They came all the way from America! That's incredible." "Shh, don't say it!" And the new transfer students looked just as mysterious as the buildings that had suddenly appeared... Transfer student number one: A yellow sponge who grinned like an idiot all day, with yellow hair, sapphire-blue eyes, and two buck teeth showing whenever he smiled. To Kageyama, he looked a lot like the orange-haired boy on the team who loved volleyball. Every day at 4:30 sharp, the transfer student appeared at the entrance to the volleyball court and shouted excitedly: "I'm ready! I'm ready! I'm ready! I'm ready!" He didn't just have an extraordinary passion for volleyball himself. He also enthusiastically dragged both teammates and opponents along to work hard with him. "Don't you think playing volleyball is the happiest, most wonderful thing in the world?" Squidward/Kei Tsukishima, woken at three in the morning, bleary-eyed: "I don't think so..." Transfer student number two: He had pink hair and looked harmless, like a decent fellow. But once you got to know him, you found his head was empty and he was slow and goofy. He looked like he was drooling, and he was dumb as a sack of hammers... Hey, hey, why does it get meaner the more you insult him! Yet for all his airheaded behavior, his skills on the court were tricky and unpredictable. Sometimes his displays of skill were so astonishing that you had to wonder if he was a fool who was actually wise! "You..." "How do you..." Kageyama Tobio struggled to ask for advice: "How do you set the ball so it perfectly suits the hitter's preferences?" Patrick Star: "Because SpongeBob and I are the best friends in the world! We're on the same wavelength!" Kageyama Tobio: So that's how you set a ball that gets hit! His eyes sharpened, and he immediately turned toward the unsuspecting orange-haired boy. If that's all it takes, then he, too, would become the orange-haired boy's very, very best fri(end)! (Gag) And Bikini Bottom High School had seven such hidden geniuses! The Miyagi teams being terrorized: Don't come any closer! Fortunately, there was no escape from fate. Soon, they wouldn't be the only ones suffering. Bikini Bottom High School left Miyagi behind and charged all the way to the national tournament! Every prefecture's teams: Please, seriously, don't come here!!! Theme: Gradually building trust.
