The fryer beside her crackled and popped. Shi An took off her gloves and picked up the latest newspaper.

"Church Discovers Holy Ruins, the Prophesied 'Year of Light' Is Almost Here"
"Elves and Dwarves Sign a New Trade Agreement"
Page after page was filled with world-changing events. Shi An clicked her tongue in amazement, marveling at the upheavals in the outside world. Luckily, as an utterly ordinary restaurant owner, all she had to do each day was cook for customers who showed up from who-knows-where.
The clock chimed. Shi An put down the paper, took the fried skewers out of the fryer, and placed them on separate plates.
"Your order is ready!"
The freshly fried skewers were set before the human queen, the pope, the elven king, the dwarf king, and the others.

1. The female lead has no love interest. She's an invincible female lead in a lighthearted cooking story where people read far too much into things. Seriously, everyone is an expert at making things up and putting the female lead on a pedestal.
