Su Wen is wicked, stupid, and gorgeous. That's her in a nutshell.
After taking a fall, Su Wen awakened the Mary Sue System. The System said it could help her change her original cannon-fodder storyline and become universally adored. Su Wen wasn't sure she believed it.
To become universally adored, she had to raise the favorability of the world's main characters. Su Wen, who had always done whatever she wanted, had no idea how to please anyone, so she could only follow the System's instructions.
With a look of disgust, Su Wen held out her hand and let that country bumpkin apply some folk ointment to a scrape that was barely visible. She impatiently asked the System in her mind, "I'm going out of my way to please him and letting him treat my scrape. Has his favorability gone up?"
The System looked at the country bumpkin's obsequious expression and couldn't tell who was trying to please whom.
But the hungry-wolf look in the bumpkin's eyes really annoyed the System. Even though the favorability score had strangely not budged at all, it went against its honest nature and said, "It's at 70%. Just a little more and you'll succeed, then you can switch targets."
The System secretly thought that next time they definitely had to pick a more appealing target. They needed to ditch this one soon. Why was he drooling while staring at the princess's hand?
After successfully switching targets, the System chose the hardest one to handle: the male lead.
Su Wen cooked (ordered takeout) and did laundry (splashed around in the water), even rubbing the skin off her hands. The male lead's favorability hadn't increased at all over the past few days. He wore a sour expression every day, as if she owed him eight million.
When Su Wen lost her temper, she tossed the clothes onto the floor. She was done!
The System was pleased. The male lead was indeed the male lead: cold and difficult to deal with.
While secretly celebrating, the System badmouthed the male lead, reassured Su Wen and urged her to keep trying, all while secretly cheating and rubbing a little healing potion onto her hands.
That night, the male lead casually tossed his own clothes from the floor into the trash. Then he picked up the unwashed clothes from Su Wen's laundry basket and slowly washed them one by one.
The next day, Su Wen looked at her freshly cleaned clothes and gave her free laundry service, the male lead, an approving look. The System shrieked and raged, urging Su Wen to switch targets.
And so on: a sharp-tongued but softhearted older brother, a genius computer whiz who spies on people, a strange uncle who made it on his own...
Su Wen didn't know how to win people over, and the System wouldn't give her the real numbers. With one fool and one pretending to be a fool, they just couldn't clear the game.
