Matsuda Refuses to Become an Undercover Agent

Synopsis:

At twenty-six, Officer Matsuda was investigating a case when his vision blurred and he found himself in an unfamiliar world.

The Tokyo Metropolitan Police Department was no longer the one he knew, and the twenty-six-year-old's body had shrunk to the size of a teenager's.

He had no choice but to address the System, which had been chattering incessantly in his head. "What did you say my mission was?"

"Good news: Rikkai will win the national title three years in a row. Easy, right?"

"And the bad news?"

"...You're on the Seigaku team."

*

Matsuda trained himself to exhaustion every day so he could play in the matches as a regular.

His resentment toward this mission, which had no upside at all, grew by the day.

The System nervously said, "Hang in there. That carrot will show up soon..."

Matsuda: ?

A week later, during a joint training camp with Hyotei, he met Hagiwara, who had also shrunk to the size of a teenager. Hagiwara's eyes lit up the instant he saw him.

"Complete the mission, and you can take this lovely carrot home with you!"

*

Matsuda, a Kanagawa native who went to school in Tokyo, ran into a blond, dark-skinned guy in a khaki uniform when he returned to Kanagawa.

Facing Matsuda in his Seigaku regular's uniform, Furuya slowly asked, "Are you undercover too?"

"...No. What do you mean, 'too'?"
