On September 16, Li Jingheng, a rising entrepreneur in Huaxi City, died in a fire at his home.
Yu Longshan, captain of the First Criminal Investigation Team of the Municipal Public Security Bureau, led the investigation and confirmed that the deceased was the real culprit behind the three-year Cross Serial Murder Case.
At the fire scene, the police found tools and other items matching those from the serial murder scenes. The chain of evidence conclusively identified Li Jingheng as the culprit.
Investigators also discovered a photograph of a victim's body. Forensic examination determined that the writing on the back was by a third party, suggesting that the serial murder case might have involved an accomplice.
Earlier investigation reports had all stated that there was only one culprit. This new lead overturned that conclusion.
The police are now conducting an in-depth investigation into the handwriting and the relationships between the people involved. The case remains under investigation...
