The day the whole city lost power, I discovered I was being watched.
At some point, hidden cameras had been installed in my home. There was one in every room, tucked into the corners. They had even concealed one in the bathroom.
This was dangerous. Even though I'm a guy, it was still seriously weird. I was ready to call the police, but... something unexpected happened.
One random afternoon, I discovered that the screensaver on my archenemy's computer was a picture of me.
And that wasn't all. When I used my birthday to crack his password and opened the album and videos of me being secretly filmed, I suddenly realized that the person watching me was the very archenemy who was always picking on me and trying to go against me.
Under normal circumstances, I would have assumed he hated me so much that he wanted to find something to use against me. But this time was different, because the note on that album...
was a tiny pink heart.
And in front of it were two words: "Like you."
Like you [heart].
I see.
I lower my eyes, and a thought I've never had before flashes through my mind.
From then on, the hunter became the prey.
Shao Han is an alpha honor student at school. He's exceptionally good-looking and has a great figure. Everyone who sees him takes a second look, but no one knows he was born into an extremely unhealthy family.
Or rather, it was a cage.
His alpha father was abusive and constantly unfaithful. He didn't care at all about his mother or Shao Han, who was only five at the time. He brought home one lover after another, and every day Shao Han saw a different hideous face. Their pungent, choking perfume made him so sick he would vomit.
But he was too young back then to change anything. For reasons he couldn't understand, his mother always endured it in silence, as if she still held on to a last shred of hope for his father.
He thought his mother was stupid.
Struggling to put words together with his still-limited vocabulary, he told her that if her alpha dared to hit her, she should hit him back.
But his mother only shook her head, looking heartbroken, and said nothing.
Then one day, his drunken father brought home an underage omega.
It was the school's awards ceremony. He came home clutching his first-place prize and opened the door. Instead of two disgusting bodies entwined together, there was a glaring pool of blood stretching from the sofa to the coffee table by the entrance.
He saw it with his own eyes: his usually gentle omega mother repeatedly plunging a knife into the alpha's heart. Blood spread across the floor, and with every rise and fall of the blade, it splattered across his mother's usually beautiful profile, making her look so vivid, so ruinous.
His certificate slipped from his hands and hit the floor.
After that, his gentle mother went mad.
There was only him left.
Only him...
His father was dead. His mother had killed him.
His mother had gone mad. His father had driven her to it.
His mother was mentally ill. She would always clutch Shao Han's hand tightly and murmur that if she loved him, she should have killed him.
She should have killed him when he was in his teens, while he was still young, and stopped him from becoming the scoundrel he was now.
At ten years old, he lowered his eyes and said, "You're right, Mother."
His parents' twisted relationship had choked him from a very young age, and it had burrowed into his body like a parasite. Every day after he grew up, he wanted to get rid of it.
In front of others, he kept up his polished appearance to preserve his laughable self-esteem. But life always has surprises.
When he was twenty, an annoying guy barged into his life.
After meeting him just once, Shao Han knew they were completely different. This was someone who had grown up in a warm, happy family, someone easier to understand than anyone else.
He put up with the other guy's childish provocations with some impatience. Even people in their department had heard the gossip. His roommate teased him, "You're both alphas. Is this like those natural-born archenemies you see in novels?"
He glanced at the other guy and paused for a moment before casually replying, "He's kind of cute."
But what he thought was: What could someone like him possibly have to do with me?
He never imagined that one day he would hold this person's hand and put a cold dagger into it himself, then speak in silence.
"If you love me, kill me."
A cool, fake young master, a senior in medical school x a sharp-tongued but soft-hearted genuine young master, an art student
Shao Han x Li Huizhou
Shao Han is the gong.
They aren't fake and genuine young masters living in the same household. These are just personality types.
PS: 1. A slightly bittersweet, healing little confection. A light, sweet-and-sour story with no logic, all in service of romance. The story is mainly told from the gong's perspective, so please don't get that wrong. The first few chapters may include some of the shou's perspective for plot reasons, but after that it will mostly be from the gong's point of view.
2. This story is entirely fictional and unrelated to real life. If you encounter any dangerous situation in real life, call the police immediately. Trust the people's police and believe in positive energy. The characters' values don't represent the author's values.
3. It's not exactly over-the-top melodrama, but it isn't cozy everyday life either. A deliciously bittersweet flavor. Neither of them is perfect; they're both still growing, and it's the first time either of them has loved someone. They may handle things badly or make mistakes at first. They are genuine archenemies, the kind who really do clash, not just joking around. Their relationship is entirely in keeping with the phrase "a twisted romance," so don't expect them to act like normal people. Control freaks, please don't enter.
