A Military Compound Romance: The Sweet Newlywed Life of the Sixties

Jiang Ning woke up in the food- and clothing-scarce 1960s, only to have her childhood fiancé cruelly break off their engagement.

The most beautiful woman for miles around, Jiang Ning could neither carry heavy loads nor lift a finger to do manual labor. So her family hastily arranged a marriage for her, hoping to get her married off as soon as possible.

On the day of the blind date, a handsome man over six feet tall showed up in his military uniform, his face stern and cold. The matchmaker said just a couple of words before running off in fright.

Only Jiang Ning was over the moon. Tall, handsome, a regimental officer, a salary of 130, away from home often, and not much trouble.

Where else could she find a match like that?

Everyone said Shen Cheng was cold-blooded and radiated menace, and that marrying him would only ruin a woman's life.

The residents of the military compound looked at the new military wife, so delicate and fair-skinned, and shook their heads. Following her husband to the army like that? Life was going to be tough.

With her husband's salary card and bankbook in hand, Jiang Ning watched him quietly do the laundry and cooking, raise chickens and grow vegetables. She smiled like a flower as their life got better and better.

But once night fell, a certain hot, breathless figure would wrap around her, and Jiang Ning would beg for mercy again and again. What happened to being away from home often and not much trouble?
