Hiromitsu Morofushi has lived twenty-five years as a materialist. Guided by his belief in science, he got into a prestigious university, passed round after round of selection to become a Public Security officer, and used his logical, clear-headed mind to fight to survive in the shadows.

Until one day, the Organization's boss suddenly decided to shove a member codenamed Armagnac into the Whiskey Trio. Since Scotch and this colleague seemed to be on the same wavelength (?), they struck up a pretty good friendship.

Then, the next evening, he found himself fighting monsters on a rooftop with his new colleague.

After the Whiskey Trio disbanded, Bourbon was assigned a new partner. Before then, all he knew about his new colleague, Cognac, was that he was a dog-training expert, the owner of the loyal dog Armagnac, a compulsive liar and con artist, and someone who picked up odd jobs everywhere.

Then one night, the two of them went into the mountains to investigate a case, and he discovered that his new partner really was an onmyoji.

So why did a perfectly ordinary case investigation turn into fighting monsters with firearms?

So all that mystical stuff he said was his actual job, not a scam?

A few months after Public Security undercover agent Scotch killed himself, Rei Furuya saw Hiromitsu Morofushi again. His childhood friend was breathing, had a heartbeat, and seemed as if nothing had ever happened.

Before he had even had a few days to enjoy their reunion, the onmyoji who had brought Hiro back from the dead handed him a new assignment.

Hana-Kainin Ryuji: I've already helped you two get back on good terms, so could you do me a favor too? Like, help me get over my unrequited crush.

0. Happy ending, lighthearted tone. This is a very offbeat story about onmyoji, Public Security, monsters, and detectives. It will be a slow burn.

1. Nura: Rise of the Yokai Clan x Detective Conan. I'll do my best to make it readable even if you haven't read the original Nura: Rise of the Yokai Clan.

2. Secondary pairing: Hiromitsu and Rei. Lots and lots and lots of OOC characterization, plus plenty of wildly implausible fanon headcanons.
