Letters from the Treehouse

The day Shi Ni truly realized she liked Wen Yu, she made a decision she never thought she would make.

She confessed to Wen Yu.

On the seaside one early summer evening, in the twilight, during the blue hour, a warm breeze swept across the damp water and turned cool. Shi Ni and Wen Yu strolled along the shore.

"Wen Yu?"

"Hm?"

"I like you. Would you... like to give us a try?"

The first time she met Wen Yu was on the afternoon after the college entrance exams ended.

Just after leaving school, she heard something that caught her attention.

Those words made Shi Ni see him through rose-colored glasses...

Years later, when they talked about it, Wen Yu was surprised and deeply aggrieved.

"So back then, you didn't care about me at all. You only remembered one thing I said?!"

Shi Ni: "Mm-hmm~"

Wen Yu: "..."

He suddenly felt like all those years of doting on her had been for nothing.

Shi Ni always seemed a little distant from people. It was a wall she put up between herself and strangers.

When Wen Yu first got to know her, he thought she was far too polite and aloof. But as he took the initiative to get closer and understand her, he finally discovered the truth hidden behind that wall.

When she opened her heart to him, he told her:

"Shi Ni, you're like a wild grass, fragile yet strong, and you refuse to bow your head."

"Wild grass is resilient. It never bows its head."

Those were the last words he ever said to her, and Shi Ni remembered them for the rest of her life.
