He Zuowu x Yi Xiaonian

Because of a business marriage, Yi Xiaonian got his wish and married Xing Ke, whom he had secretly loved for years.

But after several years of marriage, Yi Xiaonian gradually realized that Xing Ke was a stone that could never be warmed. No matter how much Yi Xiaonian gave, Xing Ke's eyes never showed even the slightest reaction to him.

Yi Xiaonian always thought he wasn't doing enough. It wasn't until later that he learned Xing Ke had never treated him kindly because there had always been someone in his heart, a beloved who could never be his.

In the seventh year of Yi Xiaonian's secret love for Xing Ke, Xing Ke's beloved, He Zuowu, returned from abroad.

Unwilling to make a fool of himself, Yi Xiaonian took the initiative to cut ties with Xing Ke and signed up for a popular lifestyle dating show, hoping to start a new life without Xing Ke.

As luck would have it, He Zuowu, fresh from a concert tour, was also a guest on the show.

And even more coincidentally, Xing Ke also appeared on the show, apparently in hopes of pursuing He Zuowu.

Yi Xiaonian detested Xing Ke and just wanted to get through the show with as little effort as possible. But, by sheer coincidence, he was forced to draw lots and partner up with He Zuowu as a couple.

"Nian-ge," He Zuowu said, as if he had no idea why Yi Xiaonian and Xing Ke had separated. He narrowed his eyes and smiled innocently at Yi Xiaonian. "If we become a couple, won't Xing-ge get angry when he finds out?"

He Zuowu's memories of Yi Xiaonian only went back to ninth grade. In his recollection, Yi Xiaonian was always stern-faced and spoke harshly. He had been sent over by He Zuowu's mother a few times to tutor him.

Yi Xiaonian had sharp brows and bright eyes. Whenever He Zuowu dozed off, Yi Xiaonian would look at him darkly.

"Every time you doze off, I'll draw a turtle on your face with permanent marker."

During his teenage years, He Zuowu had little going for him besides his looks. The threat of drawing a turtle on his universally adored face woke him right up, and he didn't doze off once for the rest of the semester.

Later, while studying abroad, he and Yi Xiaonian weren't exactly close friends, but He Zuowu would often find himself thinking of that version of Yi Xiaonian.

When he returned home, he saw Yi Xiaonian with a slight fever and only then realized that Yi Xiaonian was actually very handsome. Even though his eyes were cold, whenever he looked over, it always made He Zuowu's heart skip a beat.

For the first time, He Zuowu truly understood just how captivating Yi Xiaonian was.

After He Zuowu and Yi Xiaonian got together, it was only natural that Xing Ke, who knew them both, would find out.

"Nian-ge and I are together," He Zuowu said with a beaming smile, unable to hide the provocation in his voice. "Xing-ge, you'll wish us well, right?"

When Xing Ke flew into a rage and cursed him out, He Zuowu turned to Yi Xiaonian, looking utterly aggrieved. "Nian-ge, he's so mean."

"Xing Ke," Yi Xiaonian said after a long silence, looking at him. "Let's leave things between us here."

"I've already found someone I can spend the rest of my life with."

Younger gong, mutual pampering, both are inexperienced, happy ending, ex-husband chases love and suffers, plenty of romantic rivalry, no ambiguous interactions between gongs, the gong and shou develop feelings later, the gong acts well-behaved at first and becomes a sweet-talking schemer later. The dating show takes place after the shou divorces his ex-husband, so the first several tens of thousands of words set things up.
