She had only meant to buy a pot of good soil for her flowers, but happened to spot him. He was covered in wounds from being tortured, but a merman's pride meant he would never submit. He endured it in silence, refusing to make a sound. Constance kindly took him in, only to have him bite the hand that fed him. Furious, she pointed her gardening shears at him and yelled: "Heal up, then get the hell out of here! Do you hear me?!" But she found him a second time, then a third... Constance reminded herself not to interfere too much. Merfolk belonged to the sea. But later, she regretted it. Cecil hated humans more than anything. They were deceitful and greedy, and they tortured merfolk to steal their pearls. He thought he would especially despise this human. She was contradictory and impossible to understand.
