She had an imaginary "mother."

Her "mother" was an older brother who always smiled, and her "mother's" body was a lush, leafy tree.

Mother was gentle and kind. Her belly was her favorite soft toy. It was filled with everything she loved. When Mother smiled, all over her body, her tentacles quivered and rustled.

Gu Yi'an loved this kind of mother. She wanted to stay with such a gentle mother forever.

So she entered the instance world.

More and more eyeballs were growing on Mother's body. Every night, Mother stroked Gu Yi'an's hair, repeatedly praising her as a "good baby."

Gu Yi'an lowered her gaze to the mission card in her hands, then bent down and buried her face in Mother's rotting embrace.

She crawled into Mother's belly again, closed her eyes, and returned to the warm, damp womb.

Gu Yi'an looked up at the ceiling, where countless open eyes bloomed.

She gazed at the babbling being and helplessly stroked its tentacles.

It's all right. At least it came back whole, didn't it?

It still thinks of itself as a child, but that's all right.
