A Player, but in the Yokohama Mayor Simulator

Dongxiang Zhenli was playing a holographic city-management game called City Mayor Simulator.

The player was a mayor who took over a chaotic city. Their job was to build it into a harmonious, beautiful home.

[You have acquired a new city: Yokohama]

As mayor, the player had nothing but land: no people, no money, and no prestige, plus a whole host of hostile forces looking to take their head.

Whatever. The player was only afraid of a lack of challenge.

A building caught fire after an explosion? No problem. The player dragged the whole building into Yokohama Bay and gave it a good dunk.

The Port Mafia members who nearly drowned at their headquarters: ???

There were frequent riots and armed robberies? No problem. The player would build a hundred police stations and multiply the number of officers by a hundred.

The Mafia members who came face to face with the police as soon as they stepped outside: ...

After carrying out sweeping reforms, the player ran out of money. He went to the office of the boss of Mori Corporation, the number one company on Yokohama's tax rankings, and held out his hand.

"This is a holdup! No, I'm the mayor. Give me money!"

Mori Ogai: ...

Endure it.

A new mayor had arrived in Yokohama.

The mayor was terrifyingly powerful and did whatever he pleased. His bizarre way of speaking was one thing, but as soon as he arrived, he launched sweeping reforms and forced the locals to sign inhumane 9-to-9, seven-days-a-week labor contracts.

Former Mafia bosses were forced back into the military police, handcuffed as they went around catching criminals. The hacker Fyodor became a cyber police officer, tasked with building Yokohama's basic internet infrastructure. As for Gogol, the player assigned him to the logistics system, where he was put in charge of the city's delivery industry.

The new mayor not only poured resources into Yokohama's infrastructure, building railways, hospitals, and schools, but also improved social welfare. There were no more homeless people or orphans on the streets, and people no longer had to worry about getting robbed or shot when they went out at night.

Yokohama grew better and better. Countless people supported the new mayor, hoping he would never leave.

After a long stretch of hard work, Dongxiang Zhenli finally unlocked every achievement, retired in triumph, and deleted the game.

But only after exiting the game did he discover that the characters from the game... had appeared in the real world.
