Butterfly-Watching Handbook

After transmigrating to the future, Yu Ling coasted through life until graduating from college. She finally passed the civil service exam and thought she'd spend her days doing as little as possible, but instead she was transferred to the Anomaly Management Bureau.

It's an organization responsible for containing anomalous creatures. The workload isn't heavy, and it's supposedly a cushy job.

Yu Ling: A cushy job? Sounds good to me.

A week after starting, she was assigned to look after a man suspected of having undergone a mutation.

He was beautiful, with a pair of enormous butterfly wings, sharp talons, and eyes like polished blue sapphires.

Yu Ling's job was to care for him, keep him company, and send his data to the research department. If necessary, she also had to suppress and soothe him.

Yu Ling: ...That doesn't sound cushy at all.

Luckily, the butterfly was already close to death. All she had to do was outlast him, and she'd receive a sizable bonus.

For the sake of the bonus, Yu Ling began diligently waiting for the butterfly to die.

It was exhausting, and she nearly lost her life several times. Still, Yu Ling pulled through and gradually got used to living peacefully with this troublesome monster.

Three months later, the butterfly died. Yu Ling received her bonus without a hitch.

On the day the butterfly died, it left Yu Ling a cocoon.

Because of their bond, Yu Ling took the cocoon home and watched it grow and develop.

Then, one night, its shell cracked, and the man with butterfly wings appeared again.

Yu Ling was stunned: Wasn't this guy dead?!

“...You brought me back to life.”

The man climbed out of the cocoon and brushed Yu Ling's face with his long fingers. His enormous wings trapped her in their shadow, and his voice was gentle and cold.

“Now it's my turn to take care of you.”

“You'll like it.”
