Undercover, But I Became the Boss

Sui Jing receives orders from above: infiltrate Black Dragon Corporation.

Known: The world has fused with cybernetic technology, and contaminants are piling up. Black Dragon Corporation is one of the biggest and most central conglomerates.

Unknown: In the peaceful, pleasant life of the modern world, all that is known is merely the background of a game.

Sui Jing: Boss, are you serious? You want me to infiltrate a company in a game?!

He doesn't get it, but he's deeply shocked.

For the sake of his performance review (crossed out), and for a bright future, Sui Jing enthusiastically downloads the game "Pale Data" and posts on social media every other day, determined to make sure his boss sees how hard he's working!

[Day 1:

Downloaded the game today. The gorgeous full-immersion world really is a second life brought to reality~ Contaminants, cybernetics, none of that is a big deal to me!]

[Day 2:

Starting out as an infiltrator is a little difficult, but I'm such a fast learner that I definitely won't die more than three times from the start!]

[Day 3:

Boss, trust me. This infiltration job is a sure thing. I've got it in the bag!]

The higher-ups receive word that the worlds are about to merge. To help everyone adapt, headquarters plans to send a group of people to the real world disguised as the game "Pale Data."

The group includes elite professionals from all fields, famous big shots and top talent, from special forces soldiers and leading researchers to chief commanders and elite hackers...

But during the second round of screening, they discover an extra message was sent down, and an utterly ordinary office worker got assigned to the mission.

At the meeting, the big shots discuss it amicably and agree that an ordinary office worker can't cause much trouble, so there's no need to worry about it.

That is, until they finally break through countless obstacles, enter the real world, and obtain confidential information from the biggest cybernetic conglomerate. Only then do they realize, shocked:

Th-this person looks so familiar!

The head of the biggest force in the entire cybernetic world, Black Dragon Conglomerate?! Are you serious?

They must just look alike, right?

At first, Sui Jing eagerly checks in on social media, determined to make sure his boss knows he hasn't ignored the order.

But the more he plays the game, the more he starts questioning his life.

Come on, sir! It's just a game. Why have I died 99+ times from the start? And the worst part is, this garbage game doesn't even have a walkthrough!

To figure it all out (out of guilt), Sui Jing starts posting less often, determined to make his boss think he's too immersed in the game to post (not true).

Anyway, after surviving one close call after another, Sui Jing cleverly infiltrates Black Dragon Group. To become a better mole, he goes from an office drone who can only write documents to a top prospect with a charged gun in his left hand, an incendiary grenade in his right, and a sniper rifle slung over his shoulder.

From an invisible nobody at the bottom, he survives a storm of wits, fighting skill, and influence worthy of a battle for the throne, finally climbing to the top with help from his strongest AI partner, and looking down on all of Pale Data!

Guys, can you believe it? I infiltrated the company and became its boss. Do you think my supervisor will give me a bigger year-end bonus?!

As Sui Jing indulges in happy fantasies, he discovers that, for some reason, people keep trying to steal Black Dragon Corporation's information...

But nobody can stop him from being the head of Black Dragon, the company he's infiltrated!

Black Dragon must not fall!

Until one day, on a whim, Sui Jing visits Black Dragon Prison and unexpectedly spots his boss there.

Sui Jing: W-wait, what's going on?!

#Did his boss finally get impatient and come into the game to check on his progress?

So someone's social media posts start appearing again:

This game isn't that hard after all. When would be a good time to tell the boss I've finished my infiltration mission?]

[Day 363:

Lately, my rivals keep trying to take down Black Dragon. As the boss, how can I put up with that? Let me get Black Dragon to the top of the pyramid first.]

[Day 426:

Boss, the New Year has passed. When are you going to stop stalking my social media and give me a raise? I'm really desperate!]
