The Beauty Gets a Farming Script

Transmigrated into ancient times as a delicate, beautiful, pitiful young woman, Yushu starts her farming-life story with a biased grandmother and greedy uncles who take advantage of her and try to leech off the family.

Unfortunately, she's so beautiful that trouble keeps finding her, and Yushu gradually becomes sweet on the outside and ruthless within.

Everyone says Shen Yushu has latched onto Lu Jinnian's lofty branch, but only Lu Jinnian knows how hard it is to be that branch. He has to keep rising through the ranks just to catch up with Shen Yushu's talent for getting into trouble. One goes from peasant girl to wealthy merchant, the other from scholar to chief minister. One believes making money is what matters, the other believes power is fundamental. In the end, these two ambitious people get their happy ending.

Bonus scene:

Years later, Chief Minister Lu Jinnian wraps his arms around Yushu's slender waist from behind. "Is business more important, or am I?"

Yushu yawns. "Business."

Lu Jinnian bites her.

Yushu laughs. "What about you? Have you had enough of being an official?"

Lu Jinnian holds her close. "The world can do without another Lu Jinnian, but Lu Jinnian can't live without Yushu."

Their child, forced into a career in government: "Oh, please. One of you is obsessed with money, and the other is obsessed with officialdom. You can live so carefree only because you had me to carry the burden for you."

Things to know before you dive in (important):

1. There's farming and business, family squabbles, and plenty of melodramatic romance.

2. It's all about the push and pull between a beautiful woman whose career keeps climbing and a powerful official rising through the ranks.

3. The male lead looks refined and scholarly, but he's scheming and unhinged inside. He will forcefully take the female lead in the middle of the story, but he'll mend his ways.

4. The female lead always stays clearheaded. She and the feudal-minded male lead will always have a generational gap, but they'll find common ground while respecting their differences. This isn't a story about perfection. (The male lead loves the female lead obsessively and can't help himself.)
