The brilliant sword cultivator and grandmaster Shen Yufei fails to ascend. He should have been reduced to a wandering soul, his spirit scattered and his cultivation destroyed, but by chance his soul takes refuge in an ownerless demonic sword.
The demonic sword belongs to his sworn enemy, the Demon Lord.
Thinking his enemy might also have failed to ascend and perished, Shen Yu finds a little comfort in that, but not much.
Because the demonic sword has chosen an unlucky child with mediocre talent as its master.
His name is Luo Qinglan. At first, he treats Shen Yu with respect, addresses him as senior, follows his orders, and puts up with his biting temper.
But when the demonic sword begins to erode Luo Qinglan's mind... Shen Yu is the one who suffers!
Shen Yu can't resist any of the demonic sword's master's commands!
The next morning, Shen Yu looks at the suspicious marks covering his body, so mortified he could die.
Worst of all, Luo Qinglan has no memory of it and innocently asks him, with respectful concern, if anything is wrong.
Shen Yu would rather die than say it: Last night, you had me writhing in bed until I was half-dead!
Later, he faces another tribulation of ascension.
Luo Qinglan withstands several bolts of heavenly lightning, reveals his Heavenly Demon form, then strikes Shen Yu's soul out of the demonic sword with a single palm, helping him ascend and rebuild his body.
"Be good and wait for your husband up there first."
Only then does Shen Yu realize in surprise that the brat Luo Qinglan, who has accompanied him for thousands of years and taken countless liberties with him, is... his sworn enemy, the Demon Lord!
He traded a lifetime of reincarnation to help Shen Yu's soul gather and endure.
Then he spent thousands of years helping Shen Yu fulfill his wish to ascend.

1. I only have an outline at the moment. I'm terrible at coming up with names, so the character names and title might change. I'll make a cover when inspiration strikes. o(≧v≦)o
2. This will probably be my second book. A gentle, loving little story. The others waiting in line are all too serious.
3. Note from March 16, 2025.
Premise: Secret love comes true
