When Jiang Nai got the results of his blood test, he was devastated.
Doctor: "This is from living in one of those partitioned rentals, isn't it? Move out right away. You'll get better after breathing some fresh air for a while."
With the blood test results in hand, Jiang Nai went to ask his landlord to end the lease. He was about to explode.
Landlord: "What partitioned rental? What formaldehyde poisoning? I don't understand! Get out! Get out! I'm not renting to you anymore!"
As Jiang Nai stood on the street with his luggage, surrounded by onlookers while the landlord yelled at him, a man appeared, gentle as a spring breeze.
"Hey! Uncle Zhang, come on, are you picking on out-of-towners again?"
Jiang Nai never imagined that this man, who had the face of a TVB heartthrob and wore flip-flops, would show up out of nowhere to do a good deed. He was actually a bona fide young master from one of Guangdong's most prominent families!
His ancestors had even donated a roof to the Chen Clan Ancestral Hall!!!
Even harder to imagine, this man, who was exactly his type, would carefully hold him three months later and confess:
"...I think I like you."
He also never imagined that this seemingly easygoing, lackadaisical man, who appeared to have no proper occupation, would accompany him onto the stage of his dreams and into a future he had never dared to imagine.
Jiang Nai: Mom, I told you I came to Guangzhou to pursue a career in music, right?
Jiang Nai's mom: That's right.
Jiang Nai: Well, I also brought home a daughter-in-law who could beat Takeshi Kaneshiro with one fist and Aaron Kwok with the other. What do I do?
Jiang Nai's mom: That just means it wasn't a waste watching the Four Heavenly Kings of Hong Kong with you when you were little. Oh, my Nai has such good taste, bringing home such a handsome daughter-in-law... son-in-law?
Chen Junhao: Hello, Auntie. I'm Chen Junhao. My family has eight houses and a little detached home. Your son and I truly love each other!
A little story about chasing musical dreams, finding yourself, and growing through life's ups and downs~~
Main characters: Chen Junhao (easygoing, sociable, self-deceiving, lures people in; a dog-like top) x Jiang Nai (aloof, sensitive, prickly, a face-con, stubbornly proud, awkward; a bottom)
Reader's guide:
1. One-on-one pairing, both each other's first, happy ending.
2. Translations of Cantonese dialogue can be found in the chapter comments or author's notes.
3. Some locations are based on real places, but I won't identify them. This isn't Dianping, okay?!
4. Inspired by my own embarrassing mishaps and experiences growing up and living in Guangzhou, mixed with flights of fancy. Don't take it seriously!
5. The tags say dual POV. The bottom's perspective features more in the early chapters, while the top's POV gradually increases later on. Just so you know.
6. Things gradually shift into high gear amid peaceful days, so buckle up.

Blurb for Strange Lychee, Eight Coffins~
[Protective, fussy, roast-goose-loving uncle, gifted former detective top] x [Naive, genius, gluttonous human ice pack, little Taoist bottom]
[An odd collection of height, build, skin-tone, age, and body-temperature differences (maybe?) (not really)]
[Everyday-life paranormal mystery and ghost-hunting; a dash of absurd romance, a little doting, and lots of sweetness. If it's not sweet, it's free.]
Liang Yifei has been really annoyed lately.
He quit his job and went home to sell roast goose, thinking his life had only three things left: chopping goose legs, getting nagged by Grandma to marry, and feeding the hungry brats at the police station.
Then his beloved boys from the criminal investigation unit brought him a "fraudster."
A fair-skinned little Taoist sat in the holding room, but the moment he opened his mouth, the young intern nearly cried.
"Miss, you've seen a dead person. You've got yin energy in your eyes."
Then he turned around and drooled over the roast goose Liang had brought.
Intern: Brother Fei! Save your girl, sob sob sob...
Liang Yifei: We don't need to believe in superstition.
Little Taoist: Uncle, your forehead is dark. I'm afraid you'll suffer a bloody disaster within three days.
Liang Yifei: ...Call me big brother.
Li Yu has been rather puzzled lately.
His master said he was destined to face a calamity and drove him down the mountain, leaving him only an expired ID and the words, "In the end, a benefactor will help you."
The world below the mountain is so strange.
You have to scan your phone to pay, urban management officers chase people around, and roast goose is ten thousand times tastier than the vegetarian food on the mountain.
And... that uncle who sells roast goose is so hot to the touch.
The way he scolds people is even more annoying than my master, but the hand gripping my wrist is warmer than a warming spell.
Something has happened again at Litang Plaza.
In just half a year, there have been frequent deaths from jumping, and the victims' deaths have been bizarre. The internet is awash in conspiracy theories, while the criminal investigation unit is at a loss.
Meanwhile, former deputy captain Liang Yifei is overwhelmed by the new "troublemaker" at home.
Liang Yifei: You can stay at my place, but you'll do chores, haul goods, clean, and hand over three more safety charms every day.
Li Yu: Uncle, do you provide meals? I want a roast goose leg.
Liang Yifei: ...Call me big brother.
On the night of Zhongyuan, the gates of hell open, eight coffins rise, and fate turns cruel.
A great formation for refining yin tears the night sky apart, and ghosts wail.
A slender body burns with golden flames of destiny, blood dripping from a peachwood sword to form a river.
Bullets pierce the sky, a bloodstained police badge is embedded in the formation's core, and the flames of the Nine Suns burn through the darkness.
"Xiao Yu! Come back!"
"Liang Yifei! Get the living out!"
"My life has belonged to you for ages. Only I get to decide what happens to yours!"
Reader's guide:
1. One-on-one pairing, twelve-year age gap, happy ending. The top has had a blind date (they only held hands). Both are each other's first (I think so, but if you mind the top having had a brief relationship, you can consider them both virgins).
2. There will be a little Cantonese dialogue (I'll try to use Guangzhou-style Mandarin this time). Translations are still in the chapter comments or author's notes!
3. This isn't a typical police procedural. Everyday life coexists with ghost-hunting and solving cases. My interpretation of Taoist principles is natural; orthodox and unorthodox practices are fictional, with no precise real-life counterparts. Don't read too much into it or take it seriously!
4. The setting is entirely fictional, entirely fictional, entirely fictional! Please don't connect it to real events or places. Don't take it seriously!
5. The perspectives are split fifty-fifty, with no particular bias. They're all my children, and I love them all (serious face).
6. Things shift into high gear amid tense and exciting peaceful days. As always, buckle up~
There are a few other upcoming novels on my profile. First up are I Want to Go Back to the Past and A Warm Journey, both set in Guangdong's elite circles~

Thanks for all your love. Sending hearts!

The writing in big letters really makes me fantasize about what Guangdong is like, and makes me look forward to it. What is written is a kind of beautiful reality (I will definitely go there once)
