Getting Pestered by a Baseball Guy Is My Fate, I Know

[New Preview: A Volleyball Stock-Picking Story, [Volleyball] Why Is My AI Boyfriend a Real Person?! They Said It Was an AI, So Why Is the Other Person Actually Human?]

As a grade-grubbing overachiever, I pushed myself to get good grades and excel at clubs. After grinding through all three years of middle school, I was about to start my high school life at a prestigious school with a high academic ranking, and then keep grinding.

But what came swooping in like a tornado wasn't love. It was a car accident, and on its way out, it took my Japanese language pack with it.

I stammered. I cowered. I didn't dare say a word. And, as a bonus, I lost my memory.

There was someone else in the room next to mine who had lost his memory too.

If I'd forgotten Japanese, then he'd forgotten baseball.

I thought baseball was his personal stumbling block, but I had no idea it would become my problem too. From then on, I formed an unbreakable bond with baseball...

Baseball Boy No. 1: a catcher with a bizarre case of amnesia and a contrasting split personality. Which one did you lose, the goofy Kei-chan or the tactical genius?

Baseball Boy No. 2: a quiet ace whose specialties are pitching and laughing like a hippo. Here comes an idiot so handsome even his looks can't save him!

Baseball Boy No. 3: Yamato Nadeshiko, powerhouse slugger, baseball club heartthrob, sweet puppy eyes, and... wow, that's a lot of people.

Then there's No. 4, the bespectacled scheming cat; No. 5, the delinquent mom-friend; No. 6, the one-eyed Kansai speaker; No. 7, the gloomy guy with alluring eyes; No. 8, the six-foot-two sunshine boy; No. 10, the self-conscious cicada-type guy; No. 11, the white-haired, dark-skinned childhood friend; No. 12...

“So what are you going to do?”

After hearing about the tangled web of my relationships with them, my friend started worrying about me.

Ha. No need for that.

“I’m going to get a job at a gym, then talk them into signing up for memberships.”

Instead of praising my cleverness, my friend said that people who scorn sincere feelings would eventually be abandoned by them...

She didn't know that I'd already been abandoned once.

I thought I could keep deceiving myself to the very end, but the moment the lie fell apart, it crushed me. When I was desperate and helpless, someone reached out a hand. I looked up and realized the hand's owner seemed familiar.

1. A Forget Eight fanfic. Please, go read Forget Eight! The pinky finger appears first; the main setting is Teitoku, the family home is at Yomei, and in Hyoga there's the son of a family friend of my mom's.

2. This story follows the original's core themes, keeping the comedy, mystery, and the ache of youth. It also adds the romance everyone loves, plus a bafflingly out-of-place debate career subplot for the protagonist?

3. A first-person, stock-picking story where you can ship her with anyone. In short, it's a romantic comedy about a heroine with a lot of inner monologue and rambling, who hates awkwardness but likes making terrible jokes, and a bunch of baseball boys.

Theme: You can overcome the past.
