According to legend, Lian Zheng, the human race's once-in-a-generation saber cultivator, reached godhood in just three hundred years and is the light of the cultivation world.
When Feng Zhigu sees him, he thinks he's nothing but a hairless wild macaque who knows how to swing a big blade.
So, during the first demon-subduing war in which the human and demon races fight side by side, their generals face off against each other.
But at the victory banquet after the war, while everyone else is drinking and celebrating, Feng Zhigu and Lian Zheng sneak off to the little demon king's sleeping quarters to secretly get together.

The little demon king and the saber cultivator travel throughout the nine provinces and four seas, keeping their relationship secret from their closest friends and family. They have a wonderful time together for over a month.
Unfortunately, Lian Zheng's elders summon him back to the mountain for an urgent matter, and he can't refuse. The two part ways in the mortal world and return to their respective homes.
Back in the demon tribe, Feng Zhigu suddenly remembers that he still has a pile of spoils of war in the royal hall that he hasn't sorted through. He calls his friend, a tea-tree spirit, to help.
He's heard that the formidable saber cultivator from the human race was ambushed by a demonic cultivator while undergoing the Heart-Piercing Tribulation. Not only did his cultivation regress by two minor stages, he also lost his memory.
The tea-tree spirit scoffs.
If it were our little demon king, he'd breeze through a tribulation like that.
Too bad the little demon king in question has already sent his heart flying to the cultivation world, and has abandoned the half-finished list of spoils in his hands.
The tea-tree spirit flips through the list and shouts after Feng Zhigu, who is about to disappear over the horizon:
