My Husband Brings Home Gold Coins Every Day

A short story

After her father ran off with a huge debt, Shen Yijin was forced to become the male wife of the Huo family, marrying their only son, Huo Xiao, to bring him good luck. It felt as if she had walked straight into a den of wolves.

She expected to live in constant fear, caught between danger on all sides. But things took an unexpected turn: her paralyzed husband had lost the use of his legs, not his spirit. On their wedding night, he told her to get on top and do the deed herself.

Afterward, he paid her.

Shen Yijin strutted around with her walking ATM, buying only the most expensive things. He wouldn't even give her a chair at meals, and if she got annoyed, she'd slap him. "You're still not satisfied? You're in a wheelchair, so you even save a seat at the table."

Whenever she had nothing to do, she liked provoking the paralyzed man, hoping to anger him enough that he would divorce her.

Until one day, her useless husband suddenly stood up.

Surely he'd kick her out now.

Shen Yijin looked at him with eager defiance. "When are you signing the divorce papers?"

"When did I ever say I wanted a divorce?" The man, a head taller than her, bent down. "I rather like my wife's slaps."
