Officer Matsuda Is Far Too Helpful

Fujiwara Anzu had barely started out in the world when her unreliable parents entrusted her with a child.

The child's name is Hina. She's six years old and has superpowers.

The good news is that Hina has superpowers, so her personal safety seems assured.

The bad news is that Hina holds her hostage with her beautiful girl police officer figurine.

The even worse news is that, just to get a toy, Hina will call her Mom in front of strangers.

Damn it, she's never even dated. She hasn't so much as held a boy's hand.

But since she can't run away, she can only grit her teeth and raise the child.

Luckily, her neighbor Matsuda Jinpei is a kindhearted guy who's willing to help look after Hina. It's just that he always looks at her with such pity that she wants to repay his kindness by dumping the kid on him and making him raise her.

&

Matsuda Jinpei isn't an especially generous person. He just thinks he ought to help his neighbor, a single mom.

After all, every night he hears anguished wailing and things crashing to the floor.

As they spend more time together, Matsuda starts noticing a few things.

Whenever she's around him, she always:

Acts frail (when really, she's just exhausted from looking after Hina).

Speaks softly and gently (when really, she's yelled so much she doesn't want to speak loudly).

Has eyes that always go "sparkle sparkle" when she looks at him (when really, she's plotting how to dump the kid on him).

And often praises him (because she's afraid he won't help look after Hina).

In short, he's prepared to become Hina's father.

A little skit:

Fujiwara Anzu: "Matsuda, do you want a kid?"

Matsuda Jinpei: "...Isn't this a little fast? Could I handle it?"

Fujiwara Anzu: "You can. Actually, you're the only one who could put up with her!"

Fujiwara Anzu, who wants to dump all the childcare on someone else, and Matsuda Jinpei, who thinks she's confessing her feelings, are somehow on the same wavelength.

Reader advisory:

The characters may be out of character. If you complain, you're right.

Pure sweetness, no angst.
