Snow Is Coming

A short story, available for free

A tavern girl from Jinling vs. a fallen, disillusioned prince

//

That night, with deep snow under a long, dark sky, he knocked on her door.

Later, another year passed, and heavy snow blanketed the land once more.

He sat high upon the throne, looking back toward Jinling as if gazing at his old home.

Snow falls with the evening rain. Now we must part for good.

Theme: In this fleeting life, we should grow old over wine, as snow blankets the road to Chang'an.
