When Jiang Yun transmigrated, she found herself in a difficult situation.
Not only had she become a farm girl in a poor family, but she also had a frail father, a step-grandmother who disliked her, and barely any rice to cook at home.
She was working diligently to find a way to make a better living when, in the blink of an eye, she was sold off to marry a scholar from a neighboring village as a good-luck bride.
She thought things couldn't get any worse, but it turned out her luck was finally changing.
He protected her, respected her, and loved her. A single “Don't be afraid. I'm here” softened her heart and made her abandon her plans to flee. She willingly became a wife of the Wei family.
In the spring of the Bingchen year, Wei Chen, the newly crowned top candidate in the imperial examinations, became a sensation throughout the Great Yin. Everyone in Dongdu knew his name.
Every official's family in the capital was scheming to make him their son-in-law.
And when he rode down the main street, countless young women in the city fell for him at first sight.
Yet the top scholar never looked to either side, his expression calm, making all the young women even more smitten.
Only when he reached a certain spot did he hold out his hand to someone in the crowd. “You've been waiting so long. Are your feet sore?”
He pulled her onto his horse and into his arms, and the scholar's earlier indifference vanished.
Everyone watching was astonished, but only he knew that no beauty in the world could compare to the lovely wife in his arms.
Everyone said that Jiang, wife of the newly appointed Hanlin Academician Wei, must have accumulated good karma over many lifetimes to find such an excellent husband among all those scholars. She herself had gone from a poor girl to an official's wife.
More remarkably, he was devoted to her and never chased after other women.
Little did they know that every night, Lord Wei held his beloved wife close and whispered again and again in her ear, “A Yun, you must never leave me in this life.”
[She was the reason he rose to greatness]
Reader's Guide:
1. This story is set in a fictional world with a jumble of dynasties. Please don't nitpick the history!
2. Family life, cozy romance. The first half focuses on farming, while the second half involves court politics.
3. Neither lead is perfect, and the male lead is not a yandere.
Blurb for the upcoming The Hunter's Wife's Life Notes:
● Taciturn, cold-faced, rugged man vs. cheerful, spirited farm girl
● Food and farming
★ Size difference / older, fatherly male lead
Jiang Sui transmigrates into the body of the youngest granddaughter of Granny Jiang of Dahe Village. She has six older cousins and two younger brothers.
As a little girl lost in a swarm of children, she can barely get her turn to eat a coarse rice bun.
Luckily, she's bold. When she's craving something tasty, she catches fish in the river or picks fruit in the hills, and manages to live pretty comfortably.
But after only a few years of this, her grandmother looks at the two grandsons who still can't find wives and decides to marry off Jiang Sui and one of her cousins in exchange for two granddaughters-in-law.
Jiang Sui frets over this every day until, one day, she stumbles upon an injured man in the hills.
The man says he's a hunter who was attacked by bandits and has nowhere to go.
She thinks it over: he's handsome and strong, has no parents, and can hunt. What a fine catch!
Jiang Sui immediately brings him home, points at the broad-shouldered, narrow-waisted man, and says, “Grandma, I want a live-in son-in-law. I'll take him!”
*
After they marry, Jiang Sui gradually discovers the man's many virtues.
He's strong and capable. While the villagers eat wild-vegetable pancakes and millet buns every day, her home always has more than enough white rice and fine noodles, with the delicious smell of meat wafting through the air.
Roast duck, grilled pheasant, braised rabbit, smoked venison... She eats until her cheeks and belly are round, living more comfortably than anyone else.
But one day, the man suddenly says he's remembered who he is. He's actually an important figure from the imperial court who has been missing for years.
Jiang Sui stares blankly as she chops away on the cutting board. “Then go. Go back to your official post.”
She expects him to say something nice, but instead he silently takes the cleaver from her and starts chopping meat for her.
Jiang Sui frowns and snaps, “Can't you hear what I'm saying?”
Without looking up, the man keeps working and replies in a muffled voice, “I heard you. But I'd rather spend my life with you than go back to being an official.”
Reader's Guide:
1. Farming story with food elements.
2. The leads have an eight-year age gap. One-on-one romance, both leads have no prior sexual experience, happy ending.
3. Mostly everyday life. Set in a fictional Song dynasty, with plenty of creative liberties.
4. Blurb dated 2023.12.22.
Theme: Rely on and support each other
A bold guess: Mr. Jiang was in the palace when he met General Jiang Chongfeng? So the master is the first queen? Is it the original owner's aunt? Are they all a family? Hahahaha, my identity and experience are also very consistent with the setting of a time-traveling heroine.
It's okay, but the male and female protagonists feel that the relationship is too fast, and the love is inexplicably deep... I haven't gotten the cp yet.
A little girl has a father and a mother, so how can an uncle sell his niece?
The dead stalker suddenly attacks me
I always thought it was because the round f was not written out. Good guy... This guy can really endure it.
The qaq was stolen, and the latest chapter will be anti-theft in the future. Please forgive me, I'm sorry~
Will the family be separated in the future? Or if the male protagonist becomes an official, the whole family can stay together. This is really tiring. Especially if the sisters-in-law have such a temper, will they cause a lot of trouble in the future?
The heroine's father is a former military commander after all, so why is he such a virgin, repaying evil with kindness?
I wonder when this couple can consummate their marriage at this speed, hahaha
Love line, love line! Here comes my favorite emotional line!
