Love on Tiptoe

Youth Palace, summer night.

The dance studio mirror reflected a little girl with a swollen ankle, biting her lip as tears welled in her eyes.

The twelve-year-old boy standing beside her etched the scene into his memory.

Su Kaiji, who had accompanied her grandfather on his medical rounds, secretly made a wish:

May she never get hurt dancing again.

May they meet again.

Guanzhou People's Hospital, the first snow.

The lightbox lit up, clearly illuminating the shadow of a calcaneus on the CT scan.

The name on the medical record was exactly the same as the one from the Youth Palace that year: Song Rong.

Su Kaiji looked at it for a long time.

Long enough for her to ask softly, "Dr. Su?"

He came to his senses and handed over his phone.

"So, could I add you on WeChat?"

Ballet dancer x orthopedic surgeon

"Turns out prayers work. They let me see the person I could never forget."
