A hundred years ago, the Ruling Faction faced a reproductive crisis. In the end, they decided to compromise and use monsters as vessels to reproduce.
Jin Yu, one of the eight leaders of the Ruling Faction, foresaw that their faction was headed for extinction.
Obviously! How could things possibly be fine if they had to rely on monsters to reproduce???
She didn't want any monster to "crossbreed" with her and produce offspring. After trying and failing to change the future, Jin Yu fell into despair and chose to enter hibernation to escape reality.
What she didn't expect was that someone would spend an enormous amount of mental energy and a whole century to wake her up!
A hundred years later, when Jin Yu opened her eyes and saw that familiar face again, she admitted she truly regretted it.
But regret wouldn't change anything, so Jin Yu decided to accept reality.
She calmly asked the person who had woken her, the current leader and her nemesis from a hundred years ago:
"How is the Ruling Faction doing now?"
She learned that they were right on the verge of extinction.
Her nemesis smiled. "Good thing you're awake. Waking you took too much out of me. Do your best. I'm going back to sleep."
Jin Yu: ...Just let it all end.
With no other choice, she started paying off her debt, taking up the work she'd run away from a century ago. She worked like an unstoppable overachiever, handling one crisis after another as she nervously awaited the apocalypse.
The good news: As the days went by, things only got better.
The bad news: She was surrounded by monsters.
"In the false world, we were siblings. In the real world, I long to bear your children."
"God guided me through the first half of my life. I was devout and faithful, until tentacles crawled up my calf in the church and I discovered a new god."
"My first child failed, but fortunately, the other child I've always longed for has awakened. But this child is disobedient, with all sorts of useless, confused emotions. I should help her, shouldn't I?"
Jin Yu: ...Even the apocalypse can't cure lovesickness, can it? (sigh)
