This is the tenth year that Taozhi has been brothers with them.
Every one of them fell in love with him, all at once.
-
But in those years when he loved most bitterly, he was so obsessive and crazed that he would have given everything for Fu Xiu. All he got in return was, "Taozhi, we're just brothers."
Taozhi thought he was sick. His heart felt hollow.
-
Ever since he could remember, people had called Taozhi an idiot. Nobody likes idiots.
But Fu Xiu was smart. Whenever Taozhi was bullied, he'd ruffle his hair and tell him:
"You're not an idiot. You're just not as clever as a genius."
"Everyone likes you. I love you more than anyone in the world."
-
"Liar."
The idiot believed him. He did everything for Fu Xiu and would even risk his life for him, but then Fu Xiu told him again, "Idiot, we're just brothers."
Taozhi wondered what the difference was between a brother and a wife.
Fu Xiu didn't have a wife, and a brother could be a wife too.
-
But then someone told Taozhi:
Fu Xiu was engaged.
Did he know what being engaged meant?
It meant he was going to marry a wife.
-
The idiot ran away. The idiot finally figured it out.
If Fu Xiu was going to find a wife, then so was he!
But on the day of the wedding, Fu Xiu dropped everything and rushed back from abroad. What he saw was Taozhi in a suit, pledging to spend forever with a stranger standing before him.
-
"Taozhi!"
-
People always said he was an idiot, but Taozhi wasn't stupid.
Later, he learned from Fu Xiu and gained lots of brothers of his own.
-
"Why do you smell like that person's perfume again?!" Fu Xiu gritted out.
Taozhi: "Don't get the wrong idea. They're all just my brothers."
P.S. A stubborn uke who loves with all his heart. One use of the word "brother" means one more rival. The groveling and the love-triangle drama will take turns.
A practice piece written to experiment with a different style. Old-school melodrama and outrageous angst, not recommended for readers with strong character preferences.
Theme: Say it out loud when you're in love
