Lin Suiwan set off north with her pack on her back, bound for Tiancheng Sect, said to be the greatest sect under heaven. The journey was long and perilous, and she inevitably encountered demons along the way. She dealt with them as she went, directly or indirectly saving many people.
At just sixteen, everyone she rescued called her Little Bodhisattva.
A man with white clothes and black hair always followed behind the Little Bodhisattva. He was strikingly handsome and taciturn, like a handful of melting snow on a branch. He seemed part demon, part ghost, and nothing like a human.
Heavy snow fell all night. The man huddled in a corner outside the inn, blanketed in white until he was almost indistinguishable from the snow all around him.
That white demon was finally going to die! Everyone was delighted.
But in the night, while every household kept its doors shut, Lin Suiwan went alone to stand before the man.
She touched his cold, pallid cheek. Her gaze held hatred, anger, and pain. Then she clamped a hand around his neck, her fingers closing around the long, slender stretch of flesh, which had not the slightest warmth.
She said coldly, "Wen Yu, don't think you can die so easily."
Forced to lift his head, Wen Yu slowly opened his frost-covered eyes. "...Junior Sister."
Wen Yu was her senior brother. They were bound by a blood feud.
