Childhood friends, secret love becoming mutual, a strong heroine. The hero can be soft and vulnerable in front of her, with red-rimmed eyes. If that is not your thing, please keep scrolling!
As captain of the Silverstar Rescue Team, Ji Ran is a female Alpha of the 3S rank. She protects her home and country, a great hero in the eyes of the public and the dream Alpha of countless Omegas. Ji Ran seems as warm as a spring breeze, but in truth she is cold and ruthless. Countless Omegas have thrown themselves at her and tried every way to win her favor, only to have their hearts broken. They grit their teeth and curse her as an iceberg, so clueless about romance that she is utterly cold-hearted. Even if a sweet little Omega stood naked in front of her, she would remain unmoved.
The Omegas go crazy for Ji Ran, lose their minds over her, and bang their heads against walls for her. They thought the icy Ji Ran would never stop for an Omega in her life. But then, in a video leaked by accident, they saw the injured Ji Ran softly soothing someone beside her after a rescue mission. Her expression was gentle and tender as she called the other person "baby." They could not see the person's face, but they did see the slightly raised gland on the man's neck. He was an Omega!
A ten-second video went viral across major websites. The StarNet crashed countless times that day, and the network rescue workers cried as they repaired it. The whole internet frantically searched for the Omega who had melted the icy Ji Ran. That night, just after StarNet was restored, Ji Ran's usually silent official account suddenly posted a message: a photo of two hands clasped together, wedding rings on their fingers, accompanied by a confession so full of devotion it was practically poetry. And so, StarNet crashed again.
As a 3S-level Alpha, Ji Ran should have had a powerful sex drive. Strangely, however, she had no interest in Omegas, or rather, no interest in that sort of thing at all. People came and went around her, but no one ever truly got close to her, with the exception of Pei Yu.
Ji Ran had a childhood friend who was very, very good to her. How good? When he learned she had an impairment that prevented her from sensing pheromones, Pei Yu, who had always loved mathematics, transferred to medical school. All these years, Pei Yu had silently stayed by her side, exhausting himself trying to find a way to treat her condition. He never said so, but she saw it all.
She could not sense other people's pheromones, nor realize when she was releasing her own, so being around her was difficult. She had always assumed Pei Yu was a Beta. Betas could not sense pheromones, which was why he could stay with her all these years. But she never imagined Pei Yu was actually an Omega. The frail, pale Omega had to inject himself with massive doses of suppressants every time just to stay calm. The arms hidden beneath his lab coat were covered year-round with bruises and needle marks. All of it was because of one thoughtless remark she had made when she was young, saying she disliked Omegas.
Looking at the man's face as he struggled in agony through his heat, watching him tremble as he apologized and begged her to forgive him, Ji Ran reached out. She held the tear-streaked Pei Yu tightly and smelled the scent of ebony and sandalwood, mingled with vanilla, a sweet fragrance with a bitter edge. She thought, if she really had to open her eyes every day and see someone beside her on the pillow, that person could only be Pei Yu.
Pei Yu had always kept a secret in his heart: he had loved Ji Ran for twenty years. Ji Ran did not like Omegas. The day he learned he had presented as an Omega, he felt as if he had fallen into an icy abyss. He knew Ji Ran had carried him to the hospital, so she must have known he had presented as an Omega. He did not dare face the disgust in her eyes. Uneasy and anxious, he planned to confess everything, but strangely, Ji Ran showed no dislike for him. Only later did he learn that she had been diagnosed with an impairment that kept her from sensing pheromones. She could not smell them, so he told the biggest lie of his life and said he was a Beta.
Pei Yu thought he was despicable and disgusting. Ji Ran was sick, yet he felt relieved, because her illness gave him a chance to keep staying by her side. To atone, he plunged into the ocean of medicine. He desperately wanted to cure her, but in the dead of night, as he drove one cold suppressor after another into his veins in a form of self-torture, he begged the heavens to give him a little more time. He knew he was contemptible and pathetic. He wanted to stay by Ji Ran's side, even if all he could do was watch from afar. One more second was enough. Ji Ran was the medicine that kept him breathing; without her, he would die. The day his Omega identity was exposed, he begged Ji Ran to forgive him in utter humiliation. He thought she would never look at him again, but he never expected his god to show him mercy.
Both are virgins.
