People say Ruoshui is the chosen child of destiny, blessed with good fortune. At her birth, the heavens shone with an extraordinary light, marking her as exceptional.
Born with good fortune and unmatched talent, she ascended to the Upper Realm in less than a hundred years and was honored by humankind as a goddess.
She upheld the will of the Heavenly Dao, protected all living beings, vanquished demons, and cleansed the mortal world.
For this, Ruoshui and the Demon Lord fought each other for three thousand years.
He was the most powerful demon in the history of the demon clan. No one knew when he had come into being. It was as if he had risen from the ground overnight, commanding all demons.
Ruoshui and Cangyuan fought countless times. Her Tianqing Spear pierced his body, and Cangyuan's demonic sword once sank into her shoulder. They each won and lost, and neither could defeat the other.
In yet another great battle, Ruoshui decided to fight Cangyuan to the death. He was just as determined.
Ruoshui thought there could only be two possible outcomes: either she died or Cangyuan perished. She never expected a third.
The Heavenly Dao was incomplete. To make itself whole, it seized the life essence of both her and Cangyuan, causing them both to vanish in that battle.
And so she and Cangyuan died together in that battle.
How absurd.
Yet fate had not decreed her death. A hundred years later, she awoke as a mortal girl, on the brink of starvation.
When she turned around, Cangyuan was there too, a mortal boy just as close to starving to death as she was.
When he realized what had happened, Cangyuan gave her a malicious grin and deliberately taunted her. "Well, well, if it isn't the goddess chosen by the Heavenly Dao. How did you end up dying there just like me?"
His words were like salt in her wound. Ruoshui slapped him coldly. The vivid red imprint of her fingers stood out against the boy's pale, gaunt cheek, and Cangyuan flew into a rage.
"You dare hit me?"
As soon as he finished speaking, Ruoshui raised her left hand and slapped his right cheek too.
"Didn't I hit you before?"
The boy's face contorted with rage. His frail mortal body nearly gave out.
