Immortal by the River

Chi Yu boarded a strange bus. The System said this was the Void Realm, and if he wanted to leave and return to his original world, he had to find every item it described.

Other systems would at least offer a few hints, but this one was determined to get them killed. It gave players only a name and an illustration, then left them to find the item themselves.

Find it, and great, on to the next mission, where they could keep finding creative ways to get themselves killed. Fail to find it... Game over. Pick a date and meet your ancestors as a group.

Chi Yu: "...?"

He raised his hand to unlock his phone and stared at the screen, which showed 7/7 completed. He fell into deep thought.

He felt like the System was messing with him.

Chi Yu: "I'm a terrible student with fancy stationery."

Gu Yuan chimed in, "And I'm a nepotism hire."

The evil spirits they'd bullied: "..." I can't hear anything.

(This story was written a few years ago, so the prose and plot may be a little rough around the edges. I'd like to revise it, but with so much of it already written, changing anything would mean rewriting almost the whole thing. If you spot anything that could be better, please tell me gently~ I really love this story, and I hope you'll enjoy the finished version too! One last thing, whispered quietly: this story has lots of foreshadowing, and some of it takes a long time to pay off. When you get there, I'm sure clever readers like you will figure it out!)

[I really can't write a blurb. I'm on my knees.]
