I have a sworn enemy. I've been unable to stand him for years.
After my family cut off my allowance, I couldn't make it in Britain anymore. April Fools' Day happened to fall just before I was due to return home, so I decided to confess to my sworn enemy and make his life miserable.
I even stayed up all night writing him a love letter, then handed it to him in person.
Just imagining him getting furious and calling me crazy filled me with glee.
But after taking the letter, he narrowed his eyes and sized me up for a few seconds, then readily agreed.
Was he provoking me?
I raised an eyebrow and thought, Fine. Let's see how long you can keep pretending.
To avoid giving myself away, I immediately booked a fancy restaurant and invited him to drink with me under the moon. We drank too much that night, and he even thoughtfully offered to walk me back to my apartment.
Dates, hugs, kisses, sex. The next day, my roommate let out a shriek like a rooster the moment he opened the door.
His whole worldview shattered. He stammered, "What are you two doing??"
A suffocating silence fell over the bedroom.
My drunkenness vanished in an instant.
I looked down and saw my body covered in indescribable purple marks from kisses.
I looked up and saw my sworn enemy sitting up unhurriedly beside me, sharing a blanket with me.
I looked at my friend, the naked man beside me, then myself, and finally lost it.
I broke down. "April Fools' is already over, so what the hell is going on here???"
But my sworn enemy didn't look the least bit flustered.
He gazed at me with a sly smile. "Don't panic. I'll take responsibility for you."

After missing my flight and running out of money to get home, I had no choice but to mooch off my sworn enemy.
I thought having to look him in the eye every day was bad enough, but fate had another surprise in store for me.
I was pregnant.
Clutching the test results, I watched the culprit in the distance, grinning away, blissfully unaware of what he'd done. I smiled silently.
You're all going to die, I thought. Every last one of you can go to hell.

Notes:
1. A romance between Chinese students abroad, childhood friends turned sworn enemies, sweet story.
2. Third-person narration, 1v1, happy ending, both are each other's first and only, emotionally and physically.
3. The "getting back together after a breakup" tag refers to their backstory, when they went from childhood friends to sworn enemies. There is no breakup in the main story's timeline.
4. Familiar tropes, inspired by things I saw online.
Theme: Honesty is the foundation of a person's character.
