Blurb:
[Melancholy heroine vs. brooding, obsessive hero] [Class difference] [The hero gradually goes mad]
Shu Yan moved into a luxurious mansion under the pretense of being the nanny's daughter.
From the moment she stepped inside, a pair of eyes watched her.
At first, only now and then.
Then more and more often.
And later, every moment...
She faced those sorrowful blue eyes, filled with an unspoken meaning, without hesitation, and took the initiative to approach him.
With a kiss, she trapped him in a cage called desire, then tried to keep herself out of it.
But that was impossible.
*
The little dignity she had left was torn to shreds. Shu Yan completely fell out with her mother and moved out of the mansion. She thought she could bravely face the world on her own.
After spending all day delivering takeout, Shu Yan returned to her shabby, cramped rental apartment and saw Cen Jinbai standing there in silence, the pampered young master from the mansion.
She turned away indifferently, but somehow couldn't get the key into the lock.
He grabbed her dusty sleeve. "Shu Yan, don't leave me."
Shu Yan paused. Giving up on the key, she turned to Cen Jinbai and said as if joking, "All right. Move out of that big mansion and live with me in this rental apartment, and I'll say yes."
*
When Shu Yan discovered that Cen Jinbai's studio was filled with portraits of her and paintings of various parts of her body, she trembled all over.
The person behind her pressed close, their bodies intimate. "What's wrong? Are you scared? It's too late to be scared. Don't even think about leaving me!"
Who are you trying to scare? You should hear how much your voice is shaking.
Shu Yan turned around and hugged him. Feeling his body stiffen, she buried her face against his chest, then looked up and told him, "I'm not scared at all. I'm excited."
Cen Jinbai wasn't entirely convinced.
Shu Yan ignored him and pushed him to the floor of the studio.
She abandoned him again and again, but he clung to her like a stubborn plaster and wouldn't come off.

God, Drown Me
[Resilient ordinary woman fighting life vs. frail, brooding man who is barely alive]
When a wealthy lady came to see her, Jing Cheng was in the middle of graduation season. But her father was buried in debt, and creditors had driven her to the point where she didn't dare return to school or look for work.
"Help me look after someone. He won't live long. Once he dies, you'll be free." Those were the wealthy lady's exact words.
At their first meeting, Lu Weizhou sat in a wheelchair, dressed in white, his hair falling to his shoulders and only his delicate, gaunt chin visible. She blurted out, "Miss, I'm your new caregiver."
It wasn't until she tried to make him bathe that he refused to take off his clothes. Water splashed out of the tub, tracing the outline beneath his trousers. His vacant yet beautiful face lifted, emotions she couldn't understand surging in his eyes. His voice was sharp and gloomy. "Get out."
Jing Cheng wasn't about to take Lu Weizhou's vicious remarks to heart. Getting him to accept her had never been her goal.
One day, she finally couldn't take it anymore, pushed to the verge of a breakdown by Lu Weizhou.
"You can't even stand up to talk to me. What gives you the right to judge my past?"
Lu Weizhou's fingers tightened around the wheelchair until his knuckles turned white. Hurt flashed across his eyes, then disappeared beneath his cold, hard shell. "If you look down on me so much, then leave. Am I stopping you?"
"Fine, I'm leaving!"
But she had barely taken a few steps when she heard the wheels rolling violently behind her, followed by a heavy crash that forced her to turn around.
Jing Cheng looked back and saw Lu Weizhou sprawled at the top of the stairs, his face covered in blood. He stubbornly lifted his head and glared at her with such venom that he looked like a demon crawling out of hell, one who would never let her go.
The wheelchair that had carried him lay shattered.
-
Only later did she learn that Lu Weizhou had thought she was leaving that day. He had risked his life, dragging his wheelchair from the second floor down to the first, to get closer to her.
In that brutal, silent way, he had held on to her.
P.S. The hero really is quite mad. I can't promise just how mad, or whether this is dark or healing.
* One-on-one, both leads have no prior partners.
* Imperfect protagonists.
