A Love Like a Home Invasion

After graduating from college, I couldn't find a job in my field, so I stayed home and didn't go out, thinking I'd start looking for work after the New Year.

Wait, don't get the wrong idea. I wasn't living at my mom's place. The house I'm living in now is one I bought myself, with the money I won in the lottery.

The first big stroke of luck in my life came on the night I finished my college entrance exams. It was my first time buying a scratch-off ticket, and I won a million yuan.

What I don't know yet is that the second big stroke of luck in my life is just around the corner.

A lifelong single like me is about to find love in a home-invasion-style romance.

Late at night.

Someone pounded hard on my door, accompanied by the faint sound of fingernails scratching at the crack beneath it.

“Let me in. Please, you have to save me...”

I leaned against the door and peered through the peephole. I saw a delicate, frail face dotted with blood, its pale green eyes looking strange in the dim light.

“Please, let me in... I know you're home...”

After a moment's thought, I opened the door.

Premise: Sing out for freedom.
