How Did Someone as Ordinary as Me Become a Hero?!

Hey, wasn't I supposed to get the script where I'm born with a sword bone, a martial arts prodigy, favored by fate, and free to stride along a broad road to success?

Why am I stuck in a classroom, with my classmates even calling me a flower protector?!

I sit beside the podium and quietly shed tears.

Lai Yun pokes my shoulder with her pen.

I give her a dead-fish stare. "I'm so sleepy..."

Lai Yun's voice is light and lively, seeming to carry the fragrance of wild fruit. Like an orange, yellow with a hint of green, it rolls toward me as if alive, tumbling all the way to my feet and deftly drawing my thoughts away from her face and toward her words.

"Want to go play in another world?"

Me: ?

"Do you want to?"

"Maybe..."

"Great!"

The instant the words leave her mouth, Lai Yun ignores the teacher's furious glare from the podium, grabs my wrist, and drags me at a run out of the classroom.

Hey, hey, hey, what are you doing? You're so bold! Are we not going to school tomorrow?!

I'm completely stunned.
