Brother, Why Do You Have to Treat Me This Way?

A'Rao had just followed her mother to join her stepfather's household when armored soldiers surrounded the place, leaving no way in or out.

The unfamiliar, beautiful new daughter became their way out of this predicament.

A'Rao carried a cup of tea into the Inspector's torture chamber, eyes lowered and posture meek. She lifted the tray and softly called, "My lord."

In the cramped, narrow chamber, a man holding a whip rose from the darkness. He pressed it beneath A'Rao's chin and asked in a low voice, "What did you call me?"

A'Rao's heart trembled. Meeting his shadowed gaze, she called him softly,

"...Elder Brother."

·

A'Rao's mother had married four times, and Lu Jinshi was A'Rao's last stepbrother.

Amid the clamor of a hall filled with honored guests, he gave her pleasure. When betrayal and attacks came from all sides, he promised her peace.

...A'Rao betrayed him.

With a meek expression, she called him "Elder Brother" and denied everything that had ever happened between them.

·

A'Rao fell into Lu Jinshi's hands once more.

Trembling, she clung to his shoulder and arm, her tears falling as she coaxed him in a sweet voice.

"Elder Brother, please let me go."

Lu Jinshi held her chin and greedily claimed her tenderness.

"When have you ever spared me, A'Rao?"
